Stuff .... my body .... more stuff .... my body. Not much luck generally.

Oh, and as someone pointed out to me today, my roof got hammered by the hail. So, I'm going to have to call that insurance company as well.

I'm sure it's covered under the warranty. It's just that I'm not so sure that there are any repair people out here. Might be, but sort of unlikely. I'm going to check online tonight, and call them on Monday.

Me too. Oh, Baskin Robbins .... I used to work behind the counter!!

Quick (and true) story .... about maybe seven or eight years after I worked at BR, I went in there for some ice cream.

There was this guy in the store, and he damn near tackled me. He kept shouting .... "There you ARE" and "WHERE have you BEEN???"

Then, he explained that (apparently) I was the ONLY person who knew exactly how to make the PERFECT peach soda, and could I please show these people how to make the PERFECT peach soda, which he had not been able to have for the past eight years or so ..... please please PLEASE???

So, I looked at the counter crew and they were looking at me as if to say, "Please, do something to make this guy stop driving us nuts!!!" And I took my old place behind the counter and made a peach soda the way I always made them ....

and they all lived happily ever after.

Back when I worked there (at the BR in Westwood, CA), one of the girls who worked with me was Mel Torme's daughter (for those of you who don't know the name, an American singer/actor they used to call the "Velvet Fog.")

I'm wandering again .....

The Muffin Man used to be a Burger King manager. It was years before he could go into one without getting the urge to leap behind the counter and fix everything that was horribly wrong with every store we went into.

I should say, the Muffin Man used to be the Ultimate Burger King Manager. I think his crew would have walked on hot coals if he'd asked them to. Certainly they worked extra shifts when the day manager would steal his night crew. I fell in love with him watching him dance around the kitchen there, keeping everyone's spirits up with his "Burger Man!" skits and Bing Crosby impressions. I'm very attracted to competence.

(Of course, the corporation abused his loyalty shamelessly, working him 14 hours a day for 6-7 days per week. But I took him away from all that, and now he cooks for me!)

And so you're going to leave it at that?? Oh, come on, Ricky. Who do you think we are? A bunch of brain dead drywall eating sods? Ya gotta say more! Tell us how the hell you make a peach soda that's so fantastic that it drove that guy nuts. Please! Or we'll have to drive by your place and drop off about a hundred more appliances to go bad on you.
