Template: saving template tester when restarting Calibre

If you have something saved in the template tester, it goes away when you restart Calibre. Is there any way to make it save it instead?

No.

I copy the text and paste it into Notepad++ so I can easily get it back

Given your usage patterns it would be helpful to all of us if you ran the new stuff before release (ran from source). Are you willing? If so then the instructions at https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/dev...tting-the-code tell you how to download a calibre source folder. Then the instructions at https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/dev...nt-environment tell you how to run calibre from source.

For info, here is my .bat file that does what the instructions describe.

set CALIBRE_DEVELOP_FROM=C:\CBH_Data\calibre.git\calibre_dev\src
"c:\Program Files\calibre2\calibre-debug" -g

I realize that setting this up can be a pain, but if you do it then you can report problems and suggestions on unreleased code.

Yes, it uses your current settings, including the current library. It is possible to change that behavior (I do for testing) but that requires more steps.

You will know if running from source is working if in the gui you see an asterisk next to the calibre version number.

Uh-oh, the source-version Calibre loaded but the window is white and not responding. The console gave me a bunch of "incorrect sRGB profile" warnings too and an error about printing.

I closed it and re-opened it and now it is working with the asterik.

The "traceback" is complaining about a "savetoformat" plugin that won't load.

I get the color profile errors all the time. I think they are harmless.

What happens if you run

"c:\Program Files\calibre2\calibre-debug" -g

without the

set CALIBRE_DEVELOP_FROM

?

Well, ninja'ed! Glad it is working. You should be seeing the identifier syntax highlighting in templates.

That's odd. I used to have a Save to Format plugin but deleted it because of Py3 issues and I don't think I ever put it back. The file isn't in my plugins folder. I'm not sure why it is still referencing that.

I got it working the second time. I am not sure why it froze the first time.

Look in the plugins folder in your calibre configuration folder. The .zip might still be there?

I found it. For some reason it appeared in the Plugin Updater as Uninstalled but then I opened Preferences > Plugin and found it in there and in the folder under a different name than I was looking for.
