I found this on line. Most of it's options have been discussed here, except lemon oil and essential oils. (Citric acid was discussed, a major component of lemon juice.)

One thing I would do is make sure you have a cover that has a non-porous surface. I have a rather cheap kindle voyage cover with a fake leather cover, however the inside of the unit is not nonporous. Fortunately I don't have a mold problem. See if you can find a cheap non porous surface kindle cover, both exterior and interior. Once mold gets into a porous surface it can be hard to remove without soaking the material. So nonporous and frequent wiping with any of the natural substances noted will help. Another thing to try after a thorough cleaning of your cover, is take the kndle out of it and put the Kindle cover in a window with bright sunshine coming through. The UV rays of the sun will also kill mold.

When you wipe down the surface make sure you thoroughly wipe dry and air dry it. All these mentioned solutions are aqueous, hence, water is a major component. Another thing you might try is storing your kindle where you cats can't get to it with the cover open, allowing any moisture to air dry well.

I lived in central FL for a bit, I know, humidity can be a bear there.

Is it a fabric/felt type case? The Gecko case I have for my Kobo H20 is waterproof, and presumably would wipe clean pretty readily should mould try to take hold.

Thank you. I will look at the link. I do have lemon juice. I can try that if the baking soda trick doesn't help. I'm trying to save these cases but it may not be possible. I will try some of the other tricks others have mentioned on preventing in the future if this works for these cases, or have to get another case.

Yes, it's a felt type interior case.

Most of them are to protect the the screen. Felt is porous. If you can’t find a cover with the interior nonporous then maybe a cheap neoprene sleeve for storing the kindle. That you could machine wash

Maybe try putting some silica gel packs into the Kindle under the cover? Because I know that mold cannot develops if there is not enough moisture/wet environment, and silica gel just absorbs any wet like crazy. I live in Daytona Beach, Florida, and silica gels helps me a lot with my shoes in any time of year.

That's a good suggestion too I haven't thought of, thank you. Will try that. I'm sure they can't be that expensive.
