Nova Scotia's vaccination rollout is.... very slow. And they're still refusing to priortize people with underlying medical conditions and constantly yelling about doing it by age... then quietly moved police officers up the priority list (after saying they weren't doing to do that).

That's the problem I pointed out earlier in this thread. Once you start prioritizing one group over another, then there will start to be fights over who should be prioritized in from of who. And then other groups will jump into the fray looking for their own increase in priority.

The good thing is, it won't be long until we no longer have to worry about impossible prioritization decisions. The arguments from each group will be moot because there will be enough vaccine to go around. General vaccine availability will happen sooner than people will reach agreement on prioritization. We are talking months on vaccine availability, years on prioritization agreement (if ever).

We today got our second Moderna shots a mere 177 km. drive from home, at a Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania chain pharmacy, thanks to the gift of persistent internet searching given us by our younger son. Town has a nice river walk. No reactions so far — or maybe a little arm pain I don’t want to admit to.

Barbara says it’s a good feeling — very chill.

Did you have to search out a second shot? Around here people are searching out first shots, but then the second shot is automatically scheduled. At least this was the case where I got my shots. It may be different at different locations.

I was reading this today and found out I had this very reaction after my first Moderna shot. It's called Covid arm. Mine happened one week after.

According to https://covid19tracker.ca/vaccinationtracker.html my province has only administered 48% of the doses delivered. But they promised to have everyone vaccinated by June.

The important things to note are to differentiate it from a bacterial infection, and that it's safe to go ahead with a second shot.

Automatic, and you have to go back to the same place. This seems to be the one consistent element in my country (U.S.).

A basketball player who had his second vaccination one day was tested positive for COVID-19 the next day. Experts are warning that getting your whole vaccination and waiting two weeks does NOT mean you can’t get COVID-19, it only means that if you do then you should be unlikely to get very I’ll from it and/or die. So I will continue to take all the precautions I can for months to come. Judging from this past weekend where young people flooded the beaches and streets of south FL and other Spring Break locations without wearing masks, there are plenty of people out and about who have no care for others. Those spring breakers are most likely not vaccinated yet, and they will likely create a huge surge in COVID-19 cases.

The second is also automatic in my location in north Texas. They gave me a COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card showing when I got the first shot and then notified me of my second appointment a few days before my second shot. I'm getting the second Pfizer shot this afternoon exactly three weeks after the first shot, but they are sending to a different site to get it. I think where and when you get the shots is up to the local authorities, not a nationwide rule. In my county they seem to be assigning us to a vaccination site based of availability and other metrics.

Yup, I barely felt it, and it was over in a flash My second appointment was booked automatically.

If you are needle phobic, you may tend to tense your arm muscle. Don't. That can cause a bit of pain from any shot. Give them your limp noodle arm, totally relaxed. Not just the arm - go limp on your shoulder and neck muscles too. You want to be like that cooked spaghetti noodle - too whimpy to be picked out of the pot for a doneness taste test.

I was required to give acknowledgment to the doctor that AstraZeneca is only 63% effective, verses the 90%+ effectiveness rates of the others he went over. And I also had to confirm consent after he reviewed the potential rare blood clot issue. He recorded my consent for both. Nova Scotia is being very cautious and won’t give the AstraZeneca to anyone 65 and over. I just qualified by a couple of months.

My age group (60-64) has the option to wait to see if another brand of vaccine becomes available, but we’ve also been told we may still only be offered AstraZeneca later.
