Why would anyone feel like going to the grocery store on a Saturday, when it's more likely to be filled with shums, chavs and murderous sods(*)?

(* My local supermarket made the national news recently when a woman phoned her boyfriend to tell him to come to the store to hit someone who had pushed in the queue in front of her. He did, and killed the man. Then got told by an irate girlfriend that it was the wrong man, to which he replied something along the lines of "I'll have to get the right one then". To be fair, though, I don't know if it happened on a Saturday or not...)

I too, try to avoid all shopping areas on the weekends, especially Saturdays. Not only because of the occasional murderous boyfriend that might appear to defend his girlfriend's status in the checkout line, but mostly the shums you mentioned. Shums and shumettes everywhere and no parental units keeping the little heathens under control. We could only wish the world was "going to the dogs" rather than being taken over by THEM.

I often go late on Saturday afternoons, on days when there's a rugby international, especially one involving Wales. (Important football match days are also good.)
The store is generally nearly empty. All the chavs go earlier, in order to stock up on beer and snacks, so I can do my shopping in perfect peace.

That's a brilliant idea - why didn't I think of that (aside from not having the foggiest when these things occur, and not living in area that seems to have a a large amount of sports fanatics)?

well i had to look up "extraordinary rendition" but i would have to say that either one of those options seems reasonable to me.

wouldn't allowing them to exit be *more* inhumane (to the rest of the population) ?
