I finished both City of Miracles (great success) and All Creatures Great and Small (no success at all).

I am still slowly digesting Lispector and starting Virginia Woolf's The Waves today.

Well, I finished The Consuming Fire by John Scalzi. I'm just going to go ahead and read The Last Emperox by john Scalzi to complete the trilogy.

Next up: Axe Man's Funeral by Julie Smith. The second in her Skip Langdon series. Let's see if I like this one too.

I've just finished two books, I Love It When You Talk Retro: Hoochie Coochie, Double Whammy, Drop a Dime, and the Forgotten Origins of American Speech by Ralph Keyes and Season of the Raven the first of Denise Domning's Servant of the Crown medieval mysteries. The first was very fast, superficial read - I learned the origin of a few phrases, but would have liked a slightly slower, more in-depth look at the phrase origins.
I enjoyed Season of the Raven quite a bit more than I expected to - so much so that even the presence of a 12th Century serial killer has not put me off starting on book two in the series.

Yes it is and yes I will! It's one of the few series I keep in hard copy for re-reading.

I've more recently read some of Mary Stewart's mystery books and although that's not my go to genre, I really enjoyed them.

I've been tempted to get the books in Kindle for ease of reading as my copy of The Hollow Hills (2nd book) is hard copy and bigger than the others, but I'm hedging on spending money on books I already have.

A good time to confess that not only did I buy an e-copy of a print title which I owned, but later ended up abandoning the book altogether (DNF)!

Everyone seems to be crazy. But quite fun. It was a quick read.

Next up: The Haunted Monastery by Robert Van Gulik. The sixth of his Judge Dee mysteries. Books 2 to 5 don't seem to be available as ebooks.

Not here either, alas. Every now and then I check. Judge Dee is a favorite.

I really enjoyed these; great pacing, interesting politics (without endless exposition - thank you, Mr Scalzi) and KEVA! She is my new favorite heroine.

3.25/5 for Kill and Run by Lauren Carr, back to her Lovers in Crime series to see if the focus returns to mysteries and murder rather than politico-religious preaching.
