I think you might also need to restart the Kindle twice or something so changes take effect on 5.11/12 or newer.

I followed the steps 1 (because firmware was 5.13.4) and 2 and got an update error 12 when I should go to step of install factory rom.

I correctly skipped wifi settings, too.

What Can I do? Do a new factory reset? Get a new diags file?

Any help is appreciated.

I have a PW4 8GB.

This jailbreak will not work on your device as your firmware version is too recent, you'll need to use one of the serial jailbreak methods.

I don't think anyone has been able to do a serial port jailbreak on a PW4.

Possibly not, but with the oasis and KT models to look to I suspect it can be done. Mine is already done and I have ten thumbs or I might have taken a shot at it myself.

I suspect this is just a matter of time now until someone wtih the skills, tools and determination add the PW4 to the serial JB list.

Bought my PW4 yesterday.
Came with 5.12.4 stock FW. Followed the steps and everything went smoothly.
Installed KUAL, works perfectly.

Note that with installing standalone "Update_KUALBooklet_hotfix_44a61b6_install.bin " did not work.

"Update_KUALBooklet_44a61b6_install.bin" worked just fine.

After installing KUAL (coplate), I put Helper+ and KUAL+ and BatteryStatus in the extensions folder, but only the fist two seems to pop up in the menu.

No BatteryStatus in the menu anyone has any idea what might be the issue?
Current FW: 5.11.2 Jailbroken

I have a PW4 on 5.13.3, so JB could work. Does jailbreaking, combined with another package, allow for changing the margins to other than the three default settings? Or am I completely off base?

there used to be, but it hasn't been possible for years because amazon got upset and changed the settings to not even be accessible after jailbreak.

I think you can edit books to force different margins.

That's a shame. In that case I won't bother jailbreaking. I modified the font scale with the FONT_RAMP trick, and apart from that there's nothing else I really want, so I'll leave it at that.

You can adjust margins, just not in the default reader. You can do it in KOReader.

KOReader has so many features and options that I made it my default reading experience.

Margins was a major reason to try it out. The other feature I ended absolutely loving is front light level control by two finger swipe.

I can only see a Kual + Addon and a Helper addon.
I have both installed but I don't have a Helper+ Dialog in the Kual extensions list.
In my helper extension, all I can do is install packages.
Did I maybe install it wrong or am I just blind and can't find the extension?

Err, there's no "Helper+" thingy, period?

There's a "KUAL+" extension, and an "Helper" extension?

That's just a minor typo in the OP (ping @ilovejedd, I could edit it, but I assume you have your own way of keeping track of it, so I wouldn't want to silently mess with that

).
