Kobo ?
I’ve had Kobo ereaders in the past but for the last few years I’ve been kindle exclusive. I am now reading fan fiction mainly and am side loading AZW3 files to my kindle using calibre, so I get the bold font options.

I’m starting to hit problems with books not appearing at all, and not staying in collections so I’m wondering if a Kobo would be a better choice for my fan fiction?

Can anyone give me some recommendations please? I’m thinking of the Clara HD or the Libra, if I get get a good price. I’d have to relearn the kobo plugins but I basically want an e-reader than I can add books to using calibre, and they will go directly into a collection.

Kobo are very good with Calibre; Calibre can put books in collections "automatically".

As far as Clara vs Libra, how about both.

Since you have an Oasis 2 and a PW4, they are relatively similar to the Kobos. I believe the Libra has waterproofing and the Clara doesn't.

If you like the Oasis form factor, get the Libra. If the Paperwhite form factor is your cup of tea, get the Clara.

It’s hard for me to decide. I have a Voyage as well. I just wish kindle played better with sideloaded books.

Sad to say it’s almost impossible to get the Libra right now unless I buy it direct from Kobo, and no not doing that. The Clara is sold out at Curry’s, which was the cheapest so not sure yet about paying extra to get it from Argos.

Online stores seem to be more expensive as well

Kobo works even better then you may remember. Kindle firmware now has this new series feature that (they stole from Kobo) but it only works with eBooks synced from Amazon. Kobo's series feature works with eBooks side loaded from Calibre.

The firmware for Kobo is still better then Kindle firmware especially with Calibre.

Why go for the Clara? Just because it's cheapest does not mean its better. The Libra is better with a nicer 7" screen.

If I needed to replace my H2O now, I would go for the Libra. And the Libra might be available at your local Currys.

No, the online prices are too high anyway. The only way to get the Libra is via Kobo direct. I’ve done that once before and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I’m also spending my days sitting with a terminally ill pet so I really don’t want to wait weeks for it.

I’ve bought the Clara HD from Argos. Should get it tomorrow. Whilst the Libra would have been nice I do read more in bed so light and small is better for me anyway.
