You can't, and you can't downgrade it either. Doing either will result in the file being deleted on unplug (with or without warning, depending on the current FW version).

I see so the only option if I were to revert back to stock firmware would be the 5.13.4 bin file (10th generation on the amazon website) and therefore locking the option of JB in the future?

A downgrade to the factory JB image followed by a factory reset will magically transform that image in a production one for that release.
That should work. EDIT: Err, not on a PW4 with *this* diag image, my bad, forgot in which thread we were ^^. Last edited by NiLuJe; 02-14-2021 at 02:27 PM. |

So, better question: why/what do you want to uninstall, anyway? And which FW version are you currently running?
The JB itself is a single file in a hidden partition, nobody cares? |

On PW4, as long as you're on 5.13.3 or older, you can downgrade to older OTA/customer/production versions (black, any firmware; blue, green, pink, 5.11.2). Last edited by ilovejedd; 02-14-2021 at 03:06 PM. |

And when you say 'change the number at the end do you mean literally just renaming the file to a different version? |

No. the firmware version is part of the download URL. change the number in the URL to the one you want.

I meant as long as you're on 5.13.3 or older, you can use diags firmware to downgrade to a lower OTA/customer/production firmware (support depending on color). Basically, instead of using the factory firmware in Step 5, you use regular OTA firmware. Obviously, you can't jailbreak on OTA firmware. |

Hi guys, i did succesfully jailbreak my kindle using this guide. Very helpful and easy to follow.
I have only one problem that’s bugging me tho... From time to time, my Kindle doesn’t wanna wake up from sleep, it’s just stuck on waking up the only solution being to restart the device long pressing the button. Sadly, there are no steps to reproduce this as it happens randomly, a week can pass and no problems and one day, can freeze again. I’m on FW 5.13.1 Mods installed are KOReader, USB Network (to rename OTAV3 files so i can prevent the OTA Update) and Screen Savers (with only one picure added). One my think that Screen Savers mod is the culprit but it isnt, i’ve had the same problem without the Screen Savers mod installed. Now, there is a way to troubleshoot this? Thanks in advance, Stay healthy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Si the culprit must be 5.13.1? Interesting...

Hi, strange quiet firmware upgrade happened to my beloved PW4.
I am not sure if I were running the update_kindle_all_new_paperwhite_v2_5.10.0.2_facto ry.bin or update_kindle_all_new_paperwhite_v2_5.11.2.bin . If I remember well I have installed a recent jailbreak hotfix cc 2 months before. (I have jailbroken two other kindles that time that is why I am not completely sure what happened to mine, but most probably I had updated the hotfix on mine as well.) I don't remember whether I have set upgrade protection again, but I definitely set it in 2019 originally. Some days before I was running KUAL to start KOReader, today KUAL was not able to run: "Application Error The selected application could not be started. Please try again.". I have checked the firmware version and to my surprise it was 5.13.4 ![]() So the question is whether I can re-gain the jailbreak (without the serial method) or I have to switch off WiFi and check time to time whether a new method is discovered? |

Kual launcher issue
New to the forum and kindle, I went thru the jailbreak steps and successfully jailbreaked the paperwhite and went and installed kual with the Screensaver hack, but for some reason there's not a icon for the launcher and the Screensaver shows that the ss hack was installed, any help would be great.
