Libra Won't Stay OFF ??
Just bought the Libra.
Got home, plugged it in to charge (to the wall). Turned it on just to check the screen. Turned it off without setting it up. It POWERS OFF. About 5 seconds later the power light starts flashing and it turns back on to the welcome page with full light. If I try to turn off... does the same thing.???? |

Ok, it goes to sleep and stays asleep AS LONG AS it's not plugged in to the wall power.
I can power it off as long as it is NOT plugged into the wall power. IF I PLUG IN THE POWER the Message Flashes on the screen about Connected to a Computer. It Flashes the Message On and Off Rapidly so you can't do anything... What's happening? Is it defective out of the box? |

Even when powered off.... as soon as I plug in the power adaptor, it turns on and starts alternating the Screen between Computer Detected, and the Home Screen.
I must be able to plug this in. |

Don't know the difference but I tried a Samsung USB Power Adaptor with the same ratings, .15A input, 1A output, and it works normal ???

So, as long as I use the Samsung Wall adaptor, power seems normal.

Here is what happens when you plug a Kobo device into power:
Anything else is a problem. The charger that caused the device to flicker between connecting and not, would be assigned to the "roundfile". With prejudice. Though I would check the cable just in case that was the problem. |

Thanks.
I'm afraid to adjust anything now that it's working, haha. This samsung wall charger does not cause the Connect to Pc to come on or anything to flicker. It just does whatever I do with the power button. The other charger, when plugged in, did not even cause the charge light to come on on the back border. The samsung does. And after I got it turned off while plugged in, shortly after it would just start up again. For some reason, the Libra just did not like that first wall charger.... |

Was it a fast charger? Avoid those.

The technical details escape my memory, but the ways that a device detects it is connected to power only vs an actual usb device are inconsistently applied between devices and chargers. The end result, some chargers will cause some devices to think they are connected to a pc, and not a charger. (and I have seen this same issue before where the device detects what it thinks is a host connection on a time interval.) The problem tends to show up on chargers with a USB jack that you use with standard usb cables. It's a pretty harmless problem, however.

I have to disagree. One co-worker fried his Kindle Oasis when he tried to use his Huawei phone charger to charge it. Evidently, the power handshake failed and his Kindle was fed around 9V. Huawei's opinion was that the charger was designed for the phone and they were not responsible for consequences from connecting it to another device.

So if using quick charger with non quick charging device, best is to stick to 2.0 cable to be safe. Or not use a quick charger. |

Hi. I have no idea. I just used the cable that came with the Libra, and an older wall charger (both the first and the samsung are older, like a couple years)
