PocketBook has been able to release four new models in the past year. So there must be something more than the pandemic involved here. (In the last two years they've released eight new models.)

In the grand scheme of things, PB probably outputs a teeny tiny volume of devices, despite the amount of models.

I don't know about that. They're the dominant e-Reader in Russia and they seem to be pretty popular (generally) in Europe. And wouldn't it be harder for a smaller company to produce more models per year than a larger company?

Pocketbook is popular in Russia, primarily because it is easy to buy there (unlike Kobo). Secondly, because it reads fb2. But the ease of acquiring the device comes first. We again run into logistics.

And yes, there is very aggressive advertising on Russian resources for Pocketbook, this is the third

It certainly would make sense for it to be a color screen, seeing as PB has also released eReaders with color.
