My old kindle 4 NT is working well for me for over 8 years, although there is some issue with the battery (it runs out very quickly).

My Kobo Touch 2.0 is still going strong after 5 years. I expect it to last a while longer.

My Kobo Aura HD I got at the end of 2013. Aside from the occasional glitch (occasionally I need to restart to fix the touchscreen) its still running well.

My Sony PRS 505 still works, unfortunately the screen cracked recently but the bit that shows turns on and it holds a charge.

My original Kindle, as in from 2007, is still working. I don't use it much though. I really like the light on my current Kindle Oasis.

My 2012 kindle fire still works. I'm surprised the battery lasts since I rarely turn it on or use it.

I dug around in the back of the closet and found two ancient artifacts: My 2007 Sony PRS-500 reader, and my 2012 Nook Color. The Sony was an instant disappointment back when I bought it. I read (I think) three books on it and threw it in the back of the closet. However, when I pulled it out just now, the battery took a charge, and it booted right up. Boy, that display sucks even worse now than I thought it did in 2007.
The Nook was better, but when I bought a Kindle Paperwhite in 2014, I retired the Nook Color and put a Cyanogen micro-SD in it and used it as a tablet for awhile. Then it, too, retired to the closet. My first ebook reader was actually my IBM X41 convertible tablet PC. Finding content was difficult, but as a reader it was just fine. I scrapped it years ago when it started acting flaky. I now have a Lenovo Yoga convertible laptop, and if I need to read PDFs, it's a big help. But my device of choice these days is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. |

I have a Kindle DXG I bought in 2010. It still works with no battery issues. I don't use it now except for PDFs as I'm too used to my Oasis (and earlier Paperwhites).

Well all my Kindles are second hand, but the oldest one (Kindle 1) works perfectly still and still holds a good charge (charging it can be hard you need a small barrel.plug with 4.5/5 volts and center positive and preferably decent amperage).
The Kindle 4 I have also holds an excellent charge, as does my Kindle Touch. Those two I especially don't know the age of but I suspect the K4 is right after the Paperwhite came out, and the Touch was right before the Paperwhite released. I also have a Paperwhite 2 but it needs a new screen and screen assembly/frame... Of all, my faves are the Kindle Touch and Kindle 4. Really like the touch's IR screen as it is a saviour when wearing gloves. |
