Off the top of my head, I don't know how to do that.

I don't know how that error will affect other ways of handling the book. I would be interested to know if the device can open the epub version of the book.
I uninstalled the extended plugin as well as the KePub output plugin and converted the book to epub and it installed just fine (though I didn't like the formatting--it didn't have a TOC. It installed just fine on my Kindle, too, and the TOC did show there. So, I reinstalled the KePub output plugin, converted the epub to KePub and it installed without any problem (and the TOC is there.)

Which probably means the epub-to-epub conversion sorted out the font and obfuscation problem. And the book on the Kindle is not that relevant as Kindles do not support epubs and you had to do a conversion to a supported format.

From the error you posted, and looking at the calibre code, I know roughly what is wrong. How different apps/functions handle that is different. For example, I think you get a similar error from the calibre editor, but, I think the calibre viewer will show it. But, maybe it won't use the embedded font. Same goes for if you put it on a Kobo device as an epub.

I'd be interested to see the original version of the epub and see if there is something we can handle. I don't know if the ScrambleEbook plugin would work on it or not. It might break in the same way. If you can get it to me in some way, I'd like to test it.

- Do I want to convert my existing epub files in Calibre to kepub, or do I just let it happen when I send them to the Libra ?

The point of the KoboTouchExtended driver is that it does the work automatically when you send the book to the device. You can convert to kepub first and that will be used, but, you don't have to.

And of course, you don't have to do anything. Kobo devices handle epubs with no problems. And a lot of people prefer them.

As a new user, it's best to try both ePub and KePub and then decide which you prefer. It's best not to ignore one or the other until you've had go at both.

This is intriguing, I look forward to the Libra finally being delivered, just playing around with all the new software available for the Kobo's.

If I figured out how to get IDA / Ghidra to properly reference string tables I'd have a crack at a patch to enable Dropbox support for the Libra (as it is for the Forma apparently?), something checking whether 'deviceIsFrost' I imagine...

There is a lot of discussion of patches in the Kobo forum, including some on that. My bet is that it isn't as simple as that. I think you will find you also need to hack the Kobo server to enable it.

But, it is in general off the hack list as it will probably involve breaking licensing as well.

No-one can stop you doing as you like with your own device, but please don't publish such a patch here on MobileRead. So far Kobo have been very good about not trying to lock down their devices like Fort Knox, so we try to not pi$$ them off with patches/hacks which interfere with their sources of revenue. If you want DropBox the current advice is to buy a Forma.

All advice received loud and clear, I'd hate for Kobo to do anything like that which Amazon continue to do to their Kindles (one of the reasons I made the switch).
thanks all

Spending a couple minutes on a custom script around something like rclone or syncthing will probably yield you better user experience than the stock Dropbox integration anyway .

I'm using the last versions of Calibre and its plugins on Windows 7 and windows 10 without a glitch (or if it's there one it's on both!).

So how one can install latest version on Win 7 64bit? Doesn't installer blocks unsupported systems?

Most likely @jiembe copied the Calibre from hi Windows 10 system.

Your solution is to upgrade to Windows 10.

Have a look at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=334841 for one approach to install Calibre 5 on Windows 7
