Firmware 4.26.16742
I synced my Clara and it updated from 4.25.15875. The new features are nice, but does anyone else find this version really laggy?

I don't see this at the firmware page. What affiliate is on your Clara HD?

What new features do you see?

I usually use Plato, but it looks like they added some buttons to the reader and adjusted the home screen.

But given that the firmware page doesn't show this 4.26 version, I'm thinking it's a hoax. We've already had one before.

This can't be possible. There is no such firmware version, unless it's a beta one. If there was, it would have been caught by kfwproxy or my crawler.

Maybe the OP is a beta tester? Since "Uncle Robin" is not my real name, I don't think I'm breaking any rules when I say that after accepting an invitation several months ago to join the testing program, I've not heard anything since. Perhaps the OP did hear back, via a non-public update?

So laggy it is making the previous version really slow to download an update. Or even see that there is an update.

I haven't seen anything about new firmware coming. And nothing in the beta group suggests there should be anything. I have asked Kobo, but, with the timezones involved, I don't expect a reply for a while.

In the meantime, care to take some screenshots to show what is new?

I got the same invite, which I also feel free to disclose as mglitch isn't my name (surprise surprise).

And yes I thought OP had meant the 4.25 firmware, which was released on the date mentioned. I see nothing for 4.26
