Korean -> English dictionary
First of all hi, I've lurked hard but this is too complicated for me.
Second, I have scoured the internet on how to get this dictionary thing to work but it won't. Either it freezes the kindle for a while or the highlighted word pop's up with ... (then random words) not the definition. I have the tab2opf.exe the mobigen.exe. I even tried a python script I found So I tried this from this site though googlefu and that fixed the hmtl gibberish problem Code:
python tab2opf.py -utf mytabfile.txt So I'm at a complete loss now and my head is fried. Can anyone help me with this? html looks like this now ![]() |

Thank you! But...maybe this xmas kindle of mine is defective. Because it freezes up completely as well.
Also what do you mean by keys? |

Would you mind sharing the files you fed into mobigen to produce those? There is something about the resulting files that kindleunpack doesn’t like and I am curious what it might be.

This is attempt xxxxx with python+penelope which is the closest I've gotten. But the kindle still freezes for a good while before actually popping up with text. It doesn't pull the word like a normal text.
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. |

Thanks for that.
I am still looking into the original problem, but one thing I noticed wrong with those files is that "<" and ">" characters in definitions are not being escaped, leading to text being treated as HTML tags. For example: welcome / make <a person> welcome / receive <a person> with delight. Added: Actually I did find the problem and it is related to the above issue. In the entry that is failing the closing tag (</idx:entry>) is being lost because the definition is truncated in the middle of text with unescaped characters: <idx:entry name="word" scriptable="yes"> <b> <idx:orth>맞다</idx:orth><idx:key key="맞다"> </b></font> 맞다11 [영접하다] meet; go (out) to meet; receive; greet.ㆍ 반가이 ∼ welcome / make <a person> welcome / receive <a person> with delight.ㆍ 따뜻이 ∼ give <a person> a warm reception.ㆍ... (셈을 마치고) All right!2 [적합하다] suit <one's taste>; answer[serve] <the p </idx:entry> Last edited by jhowell; 01-03-2021 at 08:54 AM. |

Using Notepad++ or Emeditor. I did the replace in the html with the "regex" = regular expressions, that allowed me to do the things listed over your head
