My wife has threatened to load all of my books into my coffin. I told her they don't make a coffin that large.

The vast majority of books I bought were second hand mmpbs which were roughly the same size. Very occasionally I would buy a trade paperback of a title I wanted as I had not yet found a mmpb copy. When I found a second hand mmpb of that title I would buy it and trade in the trade paperback at my usual paperback exchange for a different mmpb. Until recently paperback exchange shops/stalls were common in the UK. They sold second hand paperbacks and once the buyer had read them they could trade them in at the exchange them against some other paperbacks. They would usually credit you with half what you paid for the books if you had nor damaged them. |

It usually then goes very quiet for a while, which is ideal for reading. ![]() My wife and I get on very, very well, I am glad to say. ![]() |

My wife and I get along well. We don't have a problem with pBooks as we rarely buy them.

![]() For the record, I don't have a single pot plant in my home. I'd just forget to care for them. I do have lots of books, though. Lots and lots of books. And no husband to throw a tantrum about them. ![]() |

We're neither of us terrible hoarders, but each time we move, I'm one telling my wife "dump it, we don't need it" - including scores and scores of dead-tree books for which we have digital copies. |

My Filipino sister-in-law is a reader so I took the bulk of my pBooks back to the paperback exchange and swapped them for books she would like (Romances) and used them as packing in boxes of stuff I was shipping to the Philippines. They all arrived in good condition and my sister-in-law was very happy about this because pBooks are very expensive in the Philippines - even second hand. Since we have moved to the Philippines I now only have one book cabinet which contains pbooks of sentimental value, like my Ace Double collection, old college text books and some other special books. My wife now only keeps a few pot plants in the house (her choice) because her collection of plates and ornaments take up a lot of room. |
