New Viewer Read Aloud feature in v5.7
@Kovid,
I can only speak from a Windows POV but let me say how thrilled I am that you've added TTS to the calibre Viewer. ![]() I thought I'd pass on a bit of feedback from my initial testing...

I'm finding an issue with the reading speed. I'm finding that the levels between faster and slower needs more levels. One speed to too slow and the next faster is too fast. I'd like an in between speed.

The icon does not go in the toolbar, but when you select the text.

1) You can select some text and click on Read Aloud on the popup bar. This will read only the selected text. 2) If you bring the Viewer controls, there is a Read Aloud button (shortcut is Ctrl+S). This option will read aloud the whole book, starting at the current page. |

But I must say that the Ctrl+S shortcut is just perfect for me. As for pausing, once you start reading aloud, there is a floating bar with pause and other controls (you can pause and resume using the space bar either). |

How do I enable this feature? I have several of the Windows 10 TTS voices downloaded and enabled, but when I select text in the viewer, I don't see that little speaker icon?

Thank you! Sorry to be a nuisance, but how do I switch voices? I have books in Hindi, French and Italian that I would love to have a machine reader narrate for me as I read along. I have the MS voices downloaded, how do I use them in the viewer? |
