I read it on in-school suspension in high school and I can't remember why I didn't like it, but it wasn't very good. Maybe it was boring,it was the better part of 20 years ago.

Bought _The Silmarillion_ the last time it was on sale against reading it again, since I very much enjoyed the many times I read it when I was younger.

Tolkien's _Letters from Father Christmas_ is also on sale:

https://www.amazon.com/Letters-Fathe.../dp/B007978M9S

as is Ursula K. LeGuin's _A Wizard of Earthsea_:

I read it and thought it was sweeping and the language majestic, like reading the King James version of the Bible.

This. And that's exactly what Tolkien wanted it to be, the 'King James Bible' of his mythology.

It's not to everybody's taste, but like you, I loved it.

Yeah, the Fafhrd and Gray Mouser books are put out by Open Road and go on sale fairly often.

It's likely out of their budget, but I wish Open Road would get Mike Mignola to do some covers (or reuse the ones he did previously). I've always liked his depictions of the duo.

I have to say I prefer the Open Road covers for Jo Clayton's The Diadem series compared to the old DAW covers. You should see what Good Show, Sir! have to say about the DAW covers.

EDIT: Apparently my Adobe Digital Editions was out of date. The error about the downloaded file being corrupted was ... less than helpful. I uninstalled the old program and installed the new one. All's well now.
Wow. I just looked at mine, have had the same version of ADE since I bought my MacBook Air in September 2013.

If you are friends with Apprentice Alf, then you want to stick with ADE 2.0.1 if possible and it's pretty old.

Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb is $2.99 on amazon.com

https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000FC0XV4

Quote:
Ship of Magic (Liveship Traders Trilogy Book 1)

Bingtown is a hub of exotic trade and home to a merchant nobility famed for its liveships—rare vessels carved from wizardwood, which ripens magically into sentient awareness. Now the fortunes of one of Bingtown’s oldest families rest on the newly awakened liveship Vivacia.

For Althea Vestrit, the ship is her rightful legacy. For Althea’s young nephew, wrenched from his religious studies and forced to serve aboard the ship, the Vivacia is a life sentence. But the fate of the ship—and the Vestrits—may ultimately lie in the hands of an outsider: the ruthless buccaneer captain Kennit, who plans to seize power over the Pirate Isles by capturing a liveship and bending it to his will.

2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke is $2.99 at Amazon US.

The rest of Clarke's books are published by Open Road and go on sale all the time. But Ace held on to 2001, so it goes on sale less often.

Highly recommended, if you haven't read it. It is not simply a novelization of Stanley Kubrick's film.

Quote:
From the savannas of Africa at the dawn of mankind to the rings of Saturn as man ventures to the outer rim of our solar system, 2001: A Space Odyssey is a journey unlike any other.

This allegory about humanity’s exploration of the universe—and the universe’s reaction to humanity—is a hallmark achievement in storytelling that follows the crew of the spacecraft Discovery as they embark on a mission to Saturn. Their vessel is controlled by HAL 9000, an artificially intelligent supercomputer capable of the highest level of cognitive functioning that rivals—and perhaps threatens—the human mind.

Grappling with space exploration, the perils of technology, and the limits of human power, 2001: A Space Odyssey continues to be an enduring classic of cinematic scope.

This is the version I bought on Amazon back in 2013. I can still download it but not listed on Amazon now.
