Troubleshooting Amazon password changed, now cant download by Usb to my kindle

I have a kindle 4 and just recently it is refusing to find my wifi

Since it was still registered to Amazon I have been able to download my ebooks to the pc and add them to calibre & kindle that way.

However today Amazon decide it did not like my password I have had for ages!
Tried a few times but gave up in case I got locked out.

So it has forced me to create a new password

But how to I get my kindle to still be registered, if I cant change the password on it with no internet?
Help!

AFAIK, the registration on your Kindle will not be affected by changing your password at Amazon.

I have an old Kindle for it's serial number which has not been connected to Amazon since I registered it. The serial number still works for download and transfer via USB.

But each time I try now to transfer by USB to pc it says error
Tried 4 or 5 times
Even though the kindle is still shown in devices

That sounds more like an issue you are going to have to take up with Amazon rather than an issue with the password on your Kindle.

Hi David
I had to change the password on my tablet and phone. So surely the kindle one would need to be changed but since the WiFi doesn't work I can't do it

That does not follow. I've changed my amazon.ca password 3 or 4 times since I registered that used Kindle and I have no issues with download and transfer via USB though that Kindle has only been turned on once or twice in that time. If I was downloading over WiFi, that would be a different situation.

The download and transfer via USB DRM is tied to the serial number of the Kindle. If that is correct on Amazon, it doesn't care what your password is since the Kindle is not talking directly to Amazon.

That is why I suggested you might want to talk to Amazon to make sure that your Kindle is actually still registered to your account and nothing on their end has glitched.

Can you be more specific about what you are doing on the website and the exact error message it produces?

Have you tried it with more than one book?

Yes have tried it with a few books
The message I get as a book is downloading is "cant be downloaded securely"

The message I get on the actual download is " Uncomfirmed"

I assume it is because i had to change my password with Amazon?
But you thought not?

I was able to change to the new password on my phone & tablet.
Since since my kindle wont connect to the internet anymore I am unable to change the password on it.
It still shows up in my devices on Amazon no problem

The kindle works well apart from that lol

That is caused by a recent change to the Chrome browser. Try a different browser or select the option to keep the download.

Am trying to de-register my kindle to see if that makes the wifi start working
Though its just refusing to at the minute

Found a solution when I found this website.

Was able to reset my kindle that way as been trying and trying to do it before
Thought I would have to get another one.
It still freezes but was able to change the password and so far- touch wood its ok
