Custom icon alignment in bool columns

I switched back to tristate bools, and added an icon for currently-reading and undefined states:

However, since the checkmarks are rendered in Qt and the icons themselves not, the alignment feels a little lopsided. Any suggestions?

Why not display one column in the book list? A '% Read' column with an icon based on its value - a red-cross if 0, a green-tick if 100, otherwise a bookmark.

I have a bunch of saved searches and templates that pull from the bool. I'm not entirely sure of how to change them all over to the integer.

I've never done anything like you're doing with icons. Where did you get that red ribbon icon? If you added it to Calibre what about editing it in something and adding some blank space on the side? A bit of a crude hack, but if it works...

I don't remember where I got it - it was in a folder of random icons I had saved. I guess I could try adding extra space.

Or maybe dig out the Calibre icons and see how wide they are and trim off any blank space on the ribbon icon and resize it to the same width as the Calibre icons.

The yes/nos are rendered in Qt, I think.

If it bothers you enough, change the yes/no column to an enumerated column with values Yes/No. Don't turn on checkmarks but instead use icon rules. This way all the icons are rendered by the same piece of software.

That works, to my surprise. Using a rule overrides the default icon handling as long as the rules actually produce an icon. You don't need the "no text" because yes/no columns don't have text.
