Niacin in large enough doses can cause liver damage. The vitamin aisle is not as benign as the manufaturers want us to believe.

I've always taken a bit of time to get used to sleeping in a new house, and have usually found it takes a couple of weeks before I get used to it.
And with a new job too, it's no wonder that your mind is still active and waking you up.

This is true. And too much iron is dangerous, especially if you have haemochromatosis in the family (as I have). Yet iron supplements are freely on sale.

I have traveled so much that is rarely an issue. I spent a year and a half flying to a new city every week. I worked for a National Technical Staffing agency and the project I was on was to upgrade all of the routers in one of the major national banks. I'd go in at close of business, drop ALL of their communications, voice and data and upgrade and reprogram every thing. Just a *little* pressure there....

You're just playing the part of narrator in those dreams! You're outside, watching. (Maybe it's safer that way.)

Tried that one often. It works to get you knocked off but there is a huge drawback that does not help. You tend to have agitated sleep and wake up earlyer than you need if not in the dead of night. Result? Tired when you wake up.

Plus there's all that extra weight - for me anyway.

I have lots of dreams in which I am not one of the "characters." I have for as long as I can remember.

Something starchy but not too sugary before bedtime works well for me. I do take melatonin at bedtime (I checked with my doctor first to make sure it wouldn't interact with anything else I'm taking). I didn't realize it can cause mania, but it doesn't seem to do that with me. I think it does help me get to sleep. Could just be the placebo effect, but hey, if it works....

Been having problem sleeping too, but I think mine has more to do with a full brain than anything else. We've got so many changes coming up and we can't do much of anything constructive to prepare for them. Chris will graduate with that long awaited Bachelor's in Computer Information Services in June. Then he'll start seriously looking for a new job that he doesn't hate. Problem is, he works distribution now (hates it) but makes good money for this area. Better money, in fact, than most people in computers here. However, we all know the fate of midwestern factories and distribution warehouses, so staying put (aside from the fact of a wasted Bachelor's degree and the fact that he hates the job) isn't really an option.
Are we moving? Are we staying here? Are we prepared to take a major pay cut? If he takes a pay cut can I make up for it? Is my own pursuit of an Associates Degree worth it or a waste of time?
See what I mean?

Ants. Little black ones. All over my office, all over my desk, all over me... and in my food. And me too kind hearted to just squish them.

There's a whole crew on the floor working on dragging away a piece of potato chip (crisp) that didn't make it into the trash can when I discovered they'd gotten into the bag. Kind of fascinating in its own way. But then they get on my backpack and end up coming home with me... they're just everywhere.

I wonder whether putting a small dollop of honey, syrup or sugar in a distant corner might distract them from your desk?
But how nasty. I'm itching, just reading about it.

There aren't really any "distant" corners in my office.

I seem to have gotten most of them off my desk. They're still persevering with that piece of chip. They've also found another, smaller piece that they've gotten halfway across the carpet. I should be inspired by their industry. (Currently I'm inspired to find ant-proof containers to put my food in.)

Is it me? Or, are the people who take calls at the insurance company totally stupid??

Me: I'd like to report a claim.

Idiot: Can you tell me about the accident?

Me: There wasn't an accident. There is a hail storm going on outside. My new car is being hit by hail stones the size of baseballs ... several hundred of them.

Idiot: Where were you when the accident occurred?

Me: Well, I was in bed and very sick, until I heard the horrendous banging on the roof, at which time I got out of bed and ran out to see my car being beaten to death by hail stones.

Idiot: And, where was the car?

Me: It's where it's been for the past five days .... parked in front of the damn house!!

Idiot: And, did you call the police??

Me: Why? So, they could arrest the f**king hail stones?? Don't you think the police have better things to do than run around checking every car in the county for hail damage and trying to handcuff hail stones? Are you even listening to me??
