Sorry, but I don't know what you are asking for beyond the above. What, *exactly*, do you want to have happen with the marked books? |

While trying to figure out the SmartEject issue, this happened:

			1. I searched #readorder:true to bring up all the books on the reading list. 2. I used Ctrl+M to toggle mark on all of them. 3. I went to Reading List > Clear list. This removed all my marks, which I was using just so I knew which books to re-add to the list. ![]() Was that supposed to happen? EDIT: I wasn't able to replicate it a second time (this time I set the #lastread date to next year so I could find the books again). Gremlins again. I think there may be some confusion about how how Reading List and marked books work exactly.

Calibre has a mechanism for temporarily 'marking' books. That's the pushpin icon next to the row number. It is not a column as such, and there's only one set of 'marks' available, but it is something you can search on. The most basic search is to search for marked:true. (Marks can also be named, which is a more advanced topic.) When you 'View List' in Reading List, the PI marks each book in the list, then automatically sets the search to show only those marked books. It is not something that is saved as a column, it is only available until something else uses marks. Several other plugins also use marks and will reset all marks when used. Also, if you clear a list while it's still being 'viewed', RL will clear those marks and now your search is empty. It detects if the list is being viewed by looking at the current search string for 'marked:reading_list_...' |

I actually used "View List," thought "wait those marks might disappear", so I unmarked them, used #readorder:true (series column) and then re-marked them manually. The second time I didn't re-mark them. Maybe they were still flagged as temporary marks or something.

The code is reasonable straightforward: RL only sets marks when you view a list or when you change a list while it thinks you are already viewing a list.

If you can reliably reproduce it, I will look at it more. Until then, I have nothing to go on. |

OK - thanks all for your recommendations.

One more try to explain myself: When I connect my Kindle a column with marking ticks appears called "On Device" . I need exactly the same - a column (permanent) called e.g. "On List" with marking ticks. |

But if you are, here's a sort of roundabout way to do it. Won't work on autopop lists. 1. Set up a series-type column called #readorder. 2. Use the Reading List settings under "Reading Order Options" to set that column. 3. Set up another column called #onreadinglist. Set it to "column built from another column." Put this in the template: Code:
	program:
	test(field('#readorder'), 'Yes', '')
5. Use these rules: With default install path there's a checkmark at C:\Program Files\Calibre2\app\resources\images\ok.png If you do this right, you should get a psuedo-bool column that displays a checkmark and sorts by whether they're on the list, not what order they're on the list. You can then hide the #readorder column entirely. I use it for View Manager sorting purposes myself. If you use multiple lists and are any decent at composite columns, may also be possible to show different icons for different lists.

Read Order v Default [4] Default [3] Default [2] Default [1] No checkmarks but the name of the listing "Default" which can be changed or more listing names added in "Customize plugin..." The listings in other columns Title - Author(s)... are OK showing related details, but the order is wrong, the highest number (= last created) on top... When I remove all listing from the Reading List, the Order column stops showing those Default [n] lines so there is nothing in the Read Order column as expected - but if I click the column title it still keeps reordering putting those deleted listing titles in columns on top above the letter A... The checkmarks icon - I tested it, it is linked properly but it does not appear in the column - there is only that Default with a [number]. I could use this as it is but I don't like those sorting errors... Last edited by Bigo2; 10-13-2020 at 05:49 AM. |
