So how does transfer of non DRM ebooks goes with Kobo Forma? I saw that you have to have a Dropbox account and then upload it to Dropbox first and then download it from Dropbox to Kobo. Is there also a cable option in that that you connect computer and Kobo with a cable and transfer ebooks like that? Is there perhaps a Bluetooth option? Does it have to be Dropbox or is there also a Google drive option?
Can you browse some internet sites with the device? |

Yes, the Kobo devices have a browser. It isn't a full-featured browser, and the lower power of the devices means that it isn't suitable for most modern sites. But, it can download books that you can read on the device.

Ok thanks for the info. Almost all of my knowledge comes from watching youtube videos reviews and none of them mentions/ shows the internet browser. I guess you can put a link to google drive folder and download ebooks from there as well.

Can also WiFi sideload via FTP and browser so no cable needed.

Interestingly, on this website it has red letter x near the web browser as a mark that it doesn't have a web browser

I just got Kobo Forma. So far it seems that those side buttons for turning pages don't work, but I'll try to charge it first.
I wanted to charge it, but as you know charger doesn't come with the device, only USB cable. And I wanted to stick that cable into my charger for mobile phone, but I see that the cable for Kobo has that plastic in the middle (see photo). So can I stick it in anyway? I mean, it goes in but will it work? Also I give here specs for that are on the charger so tell me if it will work electricity wise |

Also, I just noticed that that micro usb jack on the cable is not the same shape as the "hole" on the Kobo. The one on the cable is symmetrical, while the hole on Kobo seems to be typical micro USB, and it doesn't go in.

The Kobo cable is universal, so it will fit in either way around

Your phone charger will work fine with this cable combination as you've probably figured out by now. Best thing to do if you have a few USB powered devices is spend a few dollars on a 'USB safety tester' like the picture below = available from Chinese suppliers on pretty much all auction sites. It will tell you the volts and amps drawn by any device plugged into it, which is usually enough to know whether its charging properly or not. Especially useful for devices that appear to be dead for one reason or another.
Like the Forma these testers usually come with USB ports that can be plugged in either way round. The Samsung is a smart charger so it will pump out a lot more current if the device you attach to it can negotiate with the charger and agree a higher current. WIth your phone it will increase both voltage and current way over the USB spec. The Forma seems to charge at about 800ma, slightly over USB spec. Last edited by issybird; 10-21-2020 at 06:14 PM.
