Downloading Covers in v5.1

Previously, there was a customisable list of sites to get cover images from. Now I can't see one.

Am I missing it or can we now only use the same places we get metadata from?

There have been no changes, the list is in Preferences->Metadata download as always.

Had you disabled (via preferences: Plugins) the built in ones in favor of some of the User (3rd party) plugins?
If those plugins have not been Python3'd, the no longer will load, leaving you in the lurch.

Thanks, yes, it's there, but it's smaller. I can't remember all that was on it, but Fantastic Fiction certainly was. I can't see a way too add sources.

You install additional USER plugins when you want a source not included in the basic Calibre.

Thank you, that was it. I must have installed these at some point in the past. No idea why they disappeared, I very seldom need to touch preferences.

I like the FF covers for their small file size, some covers use more storage than the book!

If a plugin wasn't Py3 compatible when you upgraded to 5.x, it got disabled and the plugin updater doesn't notify you of new updates. I had to manually update a few plugins.

I also standardized on FF size for cover..

Get the Resize Cover Plugin. Configure it to your preferred size
Once you run it against selected titles (Calibre metadata), Polish / embed the cleaned cover into your book.
Quality check PI has a cover size (again, Calibres copy) check. Use thi to find those that need help

That sounds right, I'm still using an 11 year old Kindle DX (I have 3) and haven't looked at the settings for years, it does all I want it to, so I leave it alone.
