A simple photo of this supposed Kindle on display would probably resolve this...

If the K2 was really selling in retail it would be interesting to see what the retail packaging looked like since what the K2 ships now in isn't exactly display worthy...

This is getting more interesting. Now someone reports being told by a Wal-Mart employee several months ago that Amazon was in negotiations to sell Kindles at Wal-Mart. This was in Texas.

Well, I just talked to the Pueblo Colorado store. They carry only the Sony.

Who ever is spreading these rumors needs to stop.

Anyone can say anything online, and gullible people will believe it.

Maybe her Dad bought her a Kindle online and not the one at Sam's Club. Maybe some crazy person returned a Kindle to Sam's Club and they resold it thinking it was a Sony. Maybe this whole story is just made up by someone who saw the Sonys at Sam's Club and thought they were Kindles.

I'm intrigued that SkyBum also reports seeing them in a Sam's in another state.

It is an interesting coincidence that both posters have the same first name though spelled differently. One of those spellings is my first name as well but I can assure you I didn't write those posts on either forum.

A test store? doesn't make sense. The whole premise of Sams Clubs is to buy in jumbo quantities. Amazon.com and the press has already established the presents of the Kindle, the powers already know they sell, there is nothing to "test"

I live outside of Pueblo, in the mountains.. I am going into town tomorrow and will check it out. I'll take a pix if I actually see one. I have been there recently and have not seen one. I still get asked what my Kindle is, so I have a hard time believing that they are selling in Sam's Club in my town and NO ONE knows what they are.

Sure, you can d/l a book from the Sony store. You just d/l it with your PC and put it on your Sony via USB.

There are a few products that Costco sells that aren't available nationwide, so it wouldn't surprise me if Sam's was the same way... If you're in San Diego you can (or could) get Daphne's Greek Cafe Fire Fetas at Costco but none of their other stores carry them. In Virginia we could get the Hansen's sodas by the case, but the local Costco out here in CA doesn't carry it...

Of course I still think this story is a load of bunk...
