The version you are using is not compatible with calibre 5. Either:

• Use the beta version found in this post.
• Wait until tomorrow, after I have released it.
• Go back to calibre 4.23

EDIT: This line in the exception says that the plugin version isn't python 3 compatible: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'urlparse'

What version of Modify ePub are you running? What it the eBook? Where did the eBook come from?

I didn't think the PY2 version of Modify ePub would run under Calibre 5? I thought PY2 plugins don't show up?

If it is already installed then it will throw exceptions while loading and "disappear". However, it won't uninstall itself so the exception will appear every time calibre starts.

If that's the case, why didn't that happen to me with 5.0.1? All I got was that Modify ePub wasn't shown up. I never got any exception.

Probably because you don't run in "debug mode". The exceptions show up there during startup. They don't stop calibre from starting.

If you want to try it, put the 1.4 version of the plugin into calibre 5's configuration directory then start calibre in debug mode. You will get the exception trace shown a few posts ago.

That's OK. I'll take your word for this. I don't run in debug mode. I just run Calibre normally.

Use the standard calibre plugin updater.

When you run Calibre, the main screen will show in the lower right that there is at least 1 plugin update. So click that and update whatever plugins are there to be updated.
