[GUI Plugin] Hyphenate This!

I tested it on my Windows 10, 64 bit computer, Calibre v. 5.0.1
Errror message is the same as FritzM has reported:

@Vroo: In C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\calibre-cache, there is, in my case, no hyphenation directory. Nevertheless, Polishbooks seems to do the job. I cannot really prove it, as I have, in my Kobo reader, activated the automatic Kobo hyphenation, but in Calibre's reader, hyphenation shows.

It only appears when you use the Polish tool. It happened to me.

You language is English and theirs is German, with those pesky details about character encoding.

Well, actually, this is only Calibre's reader. But I use the plugin for my Kobo, too, even with the automatic hyphenation activated. This is a little hard to explain: Kobo's hyphenation used to show a lot of errors in german. So I read in a german forum about a way to improve this by changing Kobo's internals and additionally using the HyphenateThis plugin. May be real or only imaginated, but my impression has been that in fact the hyphenation became better.

Are you reading ePub or KePub? From what I know, soft hyphens do not work well with ePub (RMSDK). I know that searching breaks.

If you want to send me the German dictionary you are using in Hyphenate This!, I can create a KoboRoot.tgz to install it. That might solve your problem without the need to add soft hyphens.

Well, I read KEPUBS, but with the help of the KoboTouchExtension plugin by Joel Gauguen, so the epub is transformed into a Kebub "on the fly. And nowadays, searching works even with hyphenation activated, as far as I remember (I scarcely use the search feature).

If you want to send me the German dictionary you are using in Hyphenate This!, I can create a KoboRoot.tgz to install it. That might solve your problem without the need to add soft hyphens.

A general question, not related to this specific plugin.
When I manually install them, they replaced to "original" version of the plugin, the one that only uses python2.
But of course they do not detect that a new version has been posted in a thread in the forum.
How does the automatic update feature work?
Is it just enough that you upload the zip to a special repository on Goyal's forum or something like that?

It's not working with 4.23. When I click the icon on the toolbar, it comes up with the following error right away.

If the zip is replaced in the first post of an indexed plugin thread it will be uploaded to Kovid's server on the next half-hour after which it will be available in calibre and trigger a message in the status line, e.g. (2 plugin updates) .

The stickies at the top of this subforum have more detail.
