Scrolling doesn't work using trackpad in macOS

When reading a book in Calibre's viewer, I usually use the flow mode. This works fine in Calibre 3. Recently I switch to version 4, but scrooling doesn't work in viewer using trackpad. And I also tried with the mouse wheel. That works fine.

So how can I solve this problem?

FYI, I use Calibre 4.23.0 and Calibre 4.99.17(beta) in macOS Catalina 10.15.6. Both the stable version and the beta version have the same problem.

Works fine n my macOS machine. Maybe adjust the thresholds in Preferences->Scrolling behavior int he viewer preferences to suit your tastes. IIRC the default is 60 pixels before a page turn is triggered.

I have set the pixel scroll threshold to many different values. It doesn't solve the problem.

By the way, the threshold seems to control the pixels needed to trigger a page turn. But I'm using flow mode, not paged mode.

In paged mode, trakpad works fine. In flow mode, when using trakpad to scoll, the calibre viewer is not as responsive as it used to be in version 3. Most of the time I can't scroll down using trakpad.

I dont know what "not as responsive" means. I flick the trackpad, and the viewer scrolls, every single time in flow mode.

The viewer scrolls very slow in version 4. For example, if the viewer in version 3 scrolls down 50 pixels every time I flick the trackpad. In version 4, the viewer only scrolls down 1 pixel every time I flick the trackpad.

I just tested in a brand new macOS virtual machine and the problem disappears. It seems to be my Mac's problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,I just tested on another Mac, with a band new calibre 4.23.0 installation. It has the same problem. So it's not my Mac's problem.
The problem disappears on a macOS virtual machine using Parallels Desktop.

A quick flick works. Sliding two fingers up or down doesn't work, especially when I slide slowly.

Moving two fingers slowly also works, in fact I can scroll a few pixels at a time like that.

Yes, flicking works. You can also scroll a few pixels using flicking.
But sliding doesn't work. First the two fingers touch the trackpad. Then slide the fingers upword without leaving the trackpad. The viewer should be scrolling at this time but it doesn't.
