Hi,
Is there a way to retrieve selected tags from the sources, post them to a custom column, and perhaps substitute my preferred abbreviations for the source site's? I've tried searching here but can't find anything. Since each page has "tags" it's no using trying to search for posts about tags. I've already configured fanficfare not to download tags-- to keep some sites from burying my tagging system. But I'm not sure how I did that, and can't read Plugin Defaults. P.S. I can write tags to Tags by adding a site-specific section in Plugin Defaults, and unchecking tags under Standard Columns. Last edited by MarjaE; 09-20-2020 at 03:08 AM. |

FanFicFare has some very powerful features for customizing story metadata and storing it custom columns. They are not, however, the most user friendly features in the world because I think like a programmer.
![]() FanFicFare has set of 'standard' metadata it collects from all sites when it can. The 'standard' metadata entries can be saved to custom columns using GUI settings in FFF config's Custom Columns tab. Many sites also have 'site specific' metadata entries collected. Those can also be saved to custom columns, but you have to use the custom_columns_settings setting in FFF's personal.ini. (You have to enable it first with a checkbox at the bottom of the Custom Columns tab.) Also in personal.ini you can use replace_metadata and the include/exclude_metadata setting to filter and change what's included in various metadata entries. There are several pages on the details in the project wiki as well as dozens of past posts about it all here in the MR thread. Search for custom_columns_settings, replace_metadata, include_metadata_pre, etc. Also be sure to look at the comments that go with those settings in plugin-defaults.ini, there's a button on the personal.ini setings tab, or view it in the project repo here. |

I thought we'd discussed it recently, but for the life of me, I can't find it.
Can someone give me some examples of series URLs (I thought it was AO3) that have extra story URLs in the story descriptions such that FFF gets extra URLs when collecting for anthology? Thanks. |

I had an in-progress fanfic that was currently one chapter. I stopped at the end of the chapter as usual. When the ePub updated to add the second chapter, the reading position then jumped back to the newly-added table of contents page. Might also happen for chapters that are inserted mid-ePub, too, but I've never actually seen an author do that. |

New Test Version Posted
2020-09-24 - Add get_urls_from_page() and get_series_from_page() to adapters, add support. This version contains some re-architecting that does two things:
When FFF presents you with the story URLs for a series anthology, it now also shows you the series name and description above the list. TThey're not labeled or anything yet, this is a first cut version.) If the series has a name, that will be the name of the anthology (after anthology_title_pattern (default:${title} Anthology) is applied). You asked for it, that's what you get. ![]() If the series has a description, that will placed in the book comments and then followed by the 'Anthology containing:' text as before. 'New Only' is still applied. Series name and description in this case cannot be edited by replace_metadata or include/exclude, etc because they are not story metadata. Right now I'm mostly interested in your comments on the user-interface aspects of this, and if there's anything obvious I've overlooked. Adding series specific code for more sites will come afterwards. However, please provide concrete examples if there are other sites you think break the series paradigm I've set. Example where not all stories have same (first) series: https://archiveofourown.org/series/1779154 Examples with extra story URLs in descs: https://archiveofourown.org/series/620242 https://archiveofourown.org/series/1044225 Example with a lengthy series desc now included: https://www.tthfanfic.org/Series-2696 |

Is there a way to disable tags? I don't want any tags to be added to Calibre's tags. I've dug around all the settings and .ini, and tried different changes. But I haven't been able get it to stop downloading tags altogether.

To never set tags, you have to change the include_subject_tags setting in personal.ini: Code:
[defaults] include_subject_tags: You can also uncheck the 'Update Calibre Metadata' option to not touch any Calibre metadata on updates. Last edited by JimmXinu; 09-24-2020 at 04:38 PM. |

Hello,
is there a way to export the journal results in a excel format? I'd like to have a sort of log but actually the only way I have found is simply select, copy, past and the result is that each cell of the journal become a line instead of keeping the one line per story forma of the journal presentation. Help? |

Interesting updates for series. Thank you. My random test seems to be working fine .
![]() LOL i had just finished updating my anthologies epub just a week back so I would probably not encounter any other series features wishlist for now. But at least next update round, I would not have to be checking the series page manually to check if the number of fics inside a series match ![]() *Well there is queueing updates for anthologies update. But I remember reading somewhere that was not feasible, so it currently just staying on the wishlist ![]() |

Having trouble updating from email with Fiction.live. When you copy the URL from the start of a story the URL ends with "/home" at the end but email notifications don't have that.
(NSFW)Email link: http://fiction.live/stories/card-gam...4g9xLuyfThqhsT (NSFW)Website: https://fiction.live/stories/Card-ga...uyfThqhsT/home Also, FFF will only grab the page from the front page and won't register if you try it from another chapter in the story. Is that a limit of the plugin? Last edited by Ryune; 09-24-2020 at 08:46 PM. Reason: Both links lead to NSFW content. |

Most sites include the story ID in the chapter URLs, too, so we can derive the story URL. Without that, it's difficult to accept chapter URLs. |

If I select the last a window called FanFicFare Log pop up with what look like an excel of 5 columns that are status, title, author, commentary and URL. I am pretty sure I am in the correct thread? |
