Add column: Is title in paperbook available from the library (on bibliocommons)?

Almost all the titles in my Calibre library are there because I have the book in electronic format.

A public library in my neighborhood is powered by BiblioCommons.
I'd like to add a column(s) into my Calibre library with the following info
1. Is title part of the library's catalog? (Yes or No)

That's the most important question.

Other questions of secondary importance:
2. What's the status of the title (in, checked out, on hold)
3. If "in", is it available in my preferred branch?
4. If title is checked out, when is the estimated day of return (after all holds are done)?

How are you going to get this 'status' information AND match it to your Library entry?
ISBN won't reliably work as Paper formats have different ISBN's thae e formats.

From what @droopy is asking for, it definitely sounds like a job for a plugin. Now if someone has access to a Bibliocommons library and the time and skill to spend creating such a plugin? That's a different question along with do we try to use BiblioCore or parse the library web page to get the information.

I's suggest moving this thread to the Plugins/Plugin Ideas thread.

#bc_has/BC Has Is title part of the library's catalog? (Yes or No)
#bc-status/BC Status What's the status of the title (in, checked out, on hold)
#bc-avail/BC Available If "in", is it available in my preferred branch?
#bc-when/BC When If title is checked out, when is the estimated day of return (after all holds are done)?

And fill them in manually, into the Metadate Edit form or into the book list.

Once that's done, you could post a request in the Plugin ideas sticky at the top of the plugins subforum. But don't get you hopes up, almost all plugins are developed by people who need them, this is especially true of Metadata Download plugins.

Added - you will need those four columns for a plugin, and it may require a GUI plugin a'la the Overdrive Synch PI.

That's why I suggested the Plugin ideas... add yours here subforum of the Plugins forum. As far as I can tell unless you are suggesting the capability of getting information from a BiblioCommons library be added to calibre, this is pretty much the definition of the type of tasks extending calibre that plugins were designed for.

It basically sounds like the function of the Overdrive Link plugin, but, for a different library. That already handles other libraries, so @jhowell might be interested in adding it. Or adding code someone else writes.

One things for sure this thread does not belong in the Plugins sub directory - we try to keep that for Piugin specific threads

I'm moving back where I put it, in Library Management.

@droopy - I suggest you a) contact jhowell by PM asking if he's interested, referring him to this thread, and b) create a post in the Plugin ideas... add yours here thread with a link to this thread.

I am not interested in adding support to the Overdrive Link plugin for finding borrowable paper copies of books though BiblioCommons.

It is a bit off topic for a plugin intended to locate ebooks and it would take more effort than I am will to make for a feature that I have no interest in using.
