The delivery date Amazon gives you is usually accurate. Don't obsess over the tracking.

When my wife and I lived in an apartment, it had a small entryway that leads into the first floor hallway. We ordered something (not from Amazon) and it was delivered by UPS. AT that time, UPS was contracting out to home delivery drivers. These were drivers that dropped off packages in their spare time mostly after work.
Well, this one driver dropped out package off in the entryway when we were both in. The package was stolen from the entryway and had to be resent. The second time it was send by Fedex. |

Last time I had a package not arrive on time (well before pandemic), I called Amazon to find out about the package and they gave me a gesture of good will to make up for the inconvenience.

Lately I’ve had a lot of personal experience of USPS slowdowns, related to the processing center in Wallingford, CT. The tracking data from both Amazon and other senders will update until the package arrives in the maw that is Wallingford, and then nothing. Delivery dates pass. Eventually the packages show up, but there are no new notifications until the one that says delivered. At least now I know what to expect.

USPS delivery has been ok, but the carriers have been sub-par. We get all of our bills via email now. 95% of snail mail we get now is junk mail. I got our address off of some of the mailing lists, but the carriers don't look at the addresses on the junk mail, so we get it anyway. |

I have had 2 or 3 delayed deliveries via UPS in last couple of months, including a couple from Amazon. UPS itself would first give one date, and then on the purported delivery date, say it was delayed. Amazon has nothing to do with this.
USPS seems more or less back to normal. We don’t have Amazon delivery trucks here, I expect those estimates would be more accurate. Last edited by tomsem; 09-10-2020 at 07:10 PM. |

Old timers may remember the "good ol' days" before FedEx and UPS when all we had was the government's mail service; USPS here in the states. Back in those days with the USPS it was a coin toss as to whether or not your package would arrive undamaged. Now that was some whining I could sink my teeth into. And if your package and its contents were damaged you had no recourse. Of course you could pay extra for insurance.
I enjoy whining as much as the next person but unfortunately for me Amazon's notification system works well. Last edited by hobnail; 09-11-2020 at 01:51 PM. |

Huh. I had a package due today, but Amazon just backtracked the “out for delivery” notification that was showing earlier to “delayed in transit.” Now I can expect delivery September 13 to 15. I’m reading this as lost, but they figure it’ll turn up. Or else, as I was surprised when the Prime truck didn’t stop as it drove by, the driver didn’t feel like turning back to the missed stop. I get it and it doesn’t matter, but you (I) do get tired of all these meaningless commitments. “Out for delivery” should mean it. And Alexa is still claiming that it’s coming today.
Can’t lay this on the USPS, either, as it was processed through Amazon facilities. |
