Problem with Overdrive on my Kobo
I am a longtime Kindle user but recently bought a Kobo Libra H20 to use Overdrive to lend books from my Library directly on the Kobo.
However, everytime I try to connect to my library from my Kobo it says "Oops! Something went wrong" My library has Overdrive and it is working if I use the Libby app or a webbrowser on my laptop. Im logged in, but I cant see any books. I thought that it might be a problem with the firmware on my Kobo that had to be updated, but now I have updated to several new versions and the problem remains. I have been in contact with the Kobo support, but they could unfortunately not help me. I thought that it might have something to do with language settings (im swedish) but I have change the language on my Kobo to english (restarted, logged in/out) and the problem is still there. I have also tried another library (and another login) - same problem. Does anyone have any hints for me ? Suggestions I can try ? |

Have you tried a factory reset (a "hard" one)?

I have tried it before, but I did one now again just to see - but its still the same problem.
I did a factory reset from the menus - is there a "harder" way ? |

Plug your kobo into a wall socket or computer. Power it off, then hold the power button until it says "critical error." Tap the rotating arrow, and it will go to a "Restoring" screen.

Thanks, a hard reset was a little bit different on the Libra H20 - I had to use the page turning button together with the power button
![]() After a hard reset the firmware was "downgraded" to my original version (i guess) and I logged in to my overdrive library - I was not able to browse any books. After that I got a message to update and I got the latest version again - but it still says "Oops! Something went wrong" when I connect to Overdrive ![]() (everything else is working just fine) |

To be honest, I think its something wrong at the libraries I have tried.
Overdrive is still new in Sweden and even though Libby and Web loans is working I think there is something wrong with their setup that makes it impossible for Kobo to connect (?) |

Something to note. www.kobo.com does not like me being logged into my VPN(on desktop). Have you tried logging into some other WiFi network like at a cafe just to check?

Are you logging in with your library card/pin or with an overdrive account?
I’d suggest you try the overdrive account (it’s an option when you’re going through the process of connecting the library to your device). See this post where I go on a bit of a rant but also provide step by step instructions to use multiple libraries on one Kobo. Which would also benefit you since you’ve got multiple libraries from what you’ve said https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...39&postcount=6 Note the above is for US libraries but I presume Overdrive used the same infrastructure for all accounts. And while your library might not use a card number/pin I’m guessing they’ll have a library specific account (this is what you’d want to link to overdrive but not enter on your Kobo). I believe I had this problem when I first got my Libra H2O. I basically did not have a US billing address entered into the online Kobo account so it did not register my account as US and overdrive did not work. After entering my full billing address on kobo online account, overdrive started working.

Do you have any other Kobo devices? You could try from there and see if that works.

(Logged in/out, restarted kobo etc) I do not have a US billing adress, but that cant be necessary for lending books in Sweden ? ![]() Quote:
![]() I have contacted a person "responsible for Overdrive" at my library, but I have not heard back from him yet. |

Also, can you look in the .kobo directory and see if there is stack log file? This has the name like "stack_00.log", with different numbers if there is more than one. That can help Kobo seeing where the error is. |

The two librarys I have tried that give me the error is (search for) "Skaraborg" and "Harryda" However - I have been able to browse books in a library called "Malmo", they only have titles in english (thats why I thought this might be a language problem) Quote:
