Just finished Michael Crichton's "State of Fear" and what a great read. Someone here recommended it so I checked it out of the Fairfax Library eBook Department. Can't recall who it was that recommended it but, whoever you are, I owe you a drink!

Neither did I. I perceived it was a very thoughtful analysis of how big environmental organizations turn into the sort of blind bureaucracies they are trying to overcome all weaved into an absorbing plot populated with very interesting characters.

I've worked in Government and business a long time and have seen this phenomena occur often and environmental groups are not immune. |

Last night I finished the book......in one sitting. (Okay, lying down) I could not put it down........on one hand, it grossed me out, on the other, (and at the same time, I couldn't 'look away'.) I had to know how it ended.. I won't say anymore, because that would give away something, but I was clicking my K1 pages like crazy. Different from your run of the mill horror story.....I enjoyed it to the end. OH, and by the way......even tho it was in Topaz, it didn't have any of the 'slow page turning' or 'formatting' issues' Either that or I just didn't notice...now THATS a good book! |

I am also reading More Reading From One Man's Wilderness by Dick Proenneke. This was actually a PDF I found on the internet. I sent it to Amazon for conversion. As others have experienced the conversion was not very clean. Bu I can still read it. |

Finished Storm Front of the Dresden Files... Into Fool Moon now. The second book seems to be going much faster than the first. There is so much action in this one. And the reading seems to just flow off of the pages.

Just finished Ken Scholes' Lamentations, in paper because it's not available for eInk. (Boo Tor!) I loved it. I need to re-read it to get some of the plot twists, though. Anyone else read this?

I just finished Jonathan Littell's "The Kindly Ones," the first book I have read on the Kindle. It certainly beats holding a 900-page tome! I think the writing was great, otherwise I wouldn't have kept reading about such a moral black hole. The last two parts were especially tough going; I think he would have benefitted from more editing..
