Again £0.99 at Kindle UK as part of the Daily Deal. Or, if you are lucky enough to live in or visit Canada (or other country with similar copyright), you can download these individually, as well as several others in the series, from Faded Page.

Hawaii, by James A. Michener, is $1.99 at Kindle US as part of today's Daily Deal, matched at Kobo US. One of the first really long books I read and enjoyed as a kid. (Along with a complete Sherlock Holmes omnibus, but I'm not sure that counts, since it's mostly a bunch of short stories and novellas...) Per eReaderIQ, Hawaii doesn't go on sale very often in the US, so I'd grab it if you want it.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FO60AZK/
Kindle US/Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00FO60AZK/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/hawaii-10

Spoiler:
Quote:
Pulitzer Prize–winning author James A. Michener brings Hawaii’s epic history vividly to life in a classic saga that has captivated readers since its initial publication in 1959. As the volcanic Hawaiian Islands sprout from the ocean floor, the land remains untouched for centuries—until, little more than a thousand years ago, Polynesian seafarers make the perilous journey across the Pacific, flourishing in this tropical paradise according to their ancient traditions. Then, in the early nineteenth century, American missionaries arrive, bringing with them a new creed and a new way of life. Based on exhaustive research and told in Michener’s immersive prose, Hawaii is the story of disparate peoples struggling to keep their identity, live in harmony, and, ultimately, join together.

BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from James A. Michener's Centennial.

Undoubtedly a classic...according to some people. And a "perfect piece of trash"...according to other people.

Now, the movie "Plan Nine From Outer Space," is a perfect piece of trash...which makes it a classic.

ADDED: Just now picked up my copy. I plan to read it in tandem with one of my favorite books, "Portnoy's Complaint," by Philip Roth.

I get loads of stuff from Gutenberg.
Delphi Classics also makes some of them available for free, and for the ones that aren't the price is low.

And a few times a year, Delphi has sales that make their books even cheaper. Delphi will email you about the sales if you get on their mailing list, and they don't abuse the privilege - just a message now and then, usually either a sale or a new release.

I'm not a fan of the Delphi classics. Mostly, I don't need massive collections of every work from an author and am not interested in the photos they add. Not picking on their work. It's just not for me.

I prefer picking up individual books and I think Standard Ebooks does very nice work and the price is right.

The full 8 book set of Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery is $1.99 on amazon.com

https://www.amazon.com/Anne-Green-Ga.../dp/B08966MZNX

Quote:
This ebook compiles Lucy Maud Montgomery's complete 'Anne of Green Gables' novels, including "Anne of Green Gables", "Anne of Windy Poplars", "Anne of Ingleside" and "Rainbow Valley".

This edition has been professionally formatted and contains several tables of contents. The first table of contents (at the very beginning of the ebook) lists the titles of all novels included in this volume. By clicking on one of those titles you will be redirected to the beginning of that work, where you'll find a new TOC that lists all the chapters and sub-chapters of that specific work.

This would seem to be a bootleg edition, as Anne of Windy Poplars and Anne of Ingleside are not in the public domain in the US.

It's worth bearing in mind that books on special offer today are much more likely to be on special offer again sometime in the future than books that have never been on special offer.

The Master & Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov is $2.99 at Amazon US.

Quote:
A 50th-anniversary Deluxe Edition of the incomparable 20th-century masterpiece of satire and fantasy, in a newly revised version of the acclaimed Pevear and Volokhonsky translation

Nothing in the whole of literature compares with The Master and Margarita. One spring afternoon, the Devil, trailing fire and chaos in his wake, weaves himself out of the shadows and into Moscow. Mikhail Bulgakov’s fantastical, funny, and devastating satire of Soviet life combines two distinct yet interwoven parts, one set in contemporary Moscow, the other in ancient Jerusalem, each brimming with historical, imaginary, frightful, and wonderful characters. Written during the darkest days of Stalin’s reign, and finally published in 1966 and 1967, The Master and Margarita became a literary phenomenon, signaling artistic and spiritual freedom for Russians everywhere.

This newly revised translation, by the award-winning team of Pevear and Volokhonsky, is made from the complete and unabridged Russian text.
