I wish Calibre chooses the title that includes the subtitle

My library has a lot of non-fiction. When I bulk-download metadata, I don't always get the subtitle in the downloaded metadata. Is there a way for Calibre to always propose/choose the title with a subtitle?

My current workaround is tedious. I google the title. Sometimes the right-hand side as a preview section which includes the complete title (i.e., includes the subtitle). In this case, it's an easy double-click to select the compete title and then paste into the title field in the Edit Metadata dialog window. But if Google doesn't come up with the "smart box" section, I have to go to goodreads or amazon and scroll. Lots of time wasted for many books. |

When it comes in AS part of a title, I split it to there. (or I may see it on the cover and add it by hand) If the series name comes in, I split that off also. You want clean metadata, be prepared for some effort ![]() Calibre has tools to help with repetitive tasks: Saved Search and Replace But almost every ADD gets some tLC (not always tender ) metadata editing

Nothing beats the manual work in my experience. I've tried to download metadata, but found that googling the necessary info and entering it manually is still faster, as downloaded metadata is inaccurate and messy more often than not. Nothing to be done there, unfortunately.

For some books, I noticed that the knowledge graph (the section on the right-hand side) contains the full title and subtitle. For other books, such as Perennial Seller (by Ryan Holiday) has a truncated title in the knowledge graph. It loooks like this: Quote:

 https://www.google.com/search?q=How+Insects+Work shows: Quote:

I initially though it had to do with character length. But look at these long titles that are complete in the knowledge graph: Quote:
