https://www.amazon.com/Nillkin-Wirel.../dp/B01DLYF0Q0 (not a recommendation, just the first one that came up in my search) If I buy that, I won't want to have to unplug it every time I want to add books (which I do manually as well, I don't like using Calibre to manage my device storage) |

I used NickleMenu to add the option to enable ftp and enable to option to 'Import Books', then when the Kobo is connected to Wi-Fi, it's ip address shows in the Settings - Device Information. I then use Filezilla to connect to the Kobo. Port number will appear when you enable ftp via NickleMenu, username is root and there is no password. Sounds a lot, but once its all set up, as long as you don't restart the Kobo - all you need to do is open Filezilla, choose to connect to the Kobo and transfer any books across, then press 'Import Books' and they appear in My Books. I then turn wifi off. If you restart your Kobo, you'll have to re-enable ftp. Let me know if you want it explaining better, or need any other help. I've only had my Libra for a month and found there's a lot of info on what can be done with patches and mods, but its not the easiest to find. I like the idea of a wireless charger too, kinda interested in putting it inside the Libra, but not sure how much space there is behind the rear cover. |

Thanks... that fully answers my questions -- I've used ftp since ~1990, so I understand the general workflow, just didn't know that NickelMenu had that feature (I've yet to try any hacks/patches, and haven't looked at NickleMenu yet)

I've updated to this firmware and so far no new bugs. OTOH, this has not been running for that long. I did find more of patches break than usual.

Any chance that the busybox distribution includes sshd and the ability to add password or certificate based authentication? I'm a bit leery about passwordless connections.

I enable Calibre server to transfer books, bookmark it in the e-reader browser, just feels neater using one program to do everything.

Yeah, I considered that option. Then it doesn't require any hacks or other modifications. That would definitely be compatible with wireless charging.

@twowheels: There's never been an SSHD applet in busybox
![]() The ftp applet does support authentication, though, but *probably* based on Linux shadow/passwd accounts, which may not be a great idea here. (TL;DR: if you want security, jump to SSH + shared keys). |

I will repeat this again since it seems to have been ignored.

Wait... first you said there's no sshd, but then you suggest ssh... ?? Maybe there is sshd, just not part of busybox?
