Which Kindle model should I go for?

Given the site that "news" was posted on, I'd wait to hear it from a more reliable source. You might remember their postings on Amazon bringing out a new Voyage? See Amazon is bringing back the Kindle Voyage for a limited time or The Kindle Voyage 2 has gone through countless iterations as examples.

They are occasionally correct but most of the posts on that site share a certain resemblance to stories in the National Enquirer, the Weekly World News and other trash tabloids for their lack of connection with reality.

I side load them because I also patch and that way, I have the firmware file to patch and I don't have to sync which I prefer not to do.

That "site" gets correct stories when they steal the information from MR (here).

I don't understand...if it's not a problem to sideload an update to your Kobo, why is it a problem to sideload it to your Kindle?

Because it's been said that maybe the PW3 might get 5.13.1 firmware if OTA updated. There is no 5.13.1 firmware available for download for the PW3.
