Walmart Wasteland with You, Too?

Yesterday I noticed that the local Walmart had finally put the Kobo Clara out of its misery and retired it somewhere. It was crunched in a vice with curving display, practically weeping from abuse, but they retired the entire kobo ereader section while they were at it, including the ebook cards. It doesn’t bode well for the Kobo/Walmart partnership. I can’t say that the partnership has been a good one. Walmart never seemed to put much care into any of the displays that I saw at the three different Walmart’s I noticed them at. But buying a Kobo from Walmart sure beat waiting for it to arrive by pony from [Kobo]. Online sales excelled, and I like purchasing Walmart gift cards for my daughter to use. It hasn’t all been terrible. What do the Walmart displays look like for you? Have they started to disappear in your neck of the woods? Now if its coming from China .... 60 days & Counting on my Clara HD Case!! Do you even have a Clara? All I see in Aura 2nd ed. Last edited by Barbara1955; 08-12-2020 at 08:13 PM. |

I ordered my Kobo Aura H2O the day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday) from Chapters in Canada. It arrived on the next Sunday. That was only four days.

I checked online several times before (and after, out of curiosity) I ordered my Clara from Walmart last year. Never saw that there were any Kobo readers available in any stores near me.

Yes, I have a Clara. No longer have the KA1 LE. Shopping from Kobo has always taken two weeks for me. Indigo was faster. Walmart fastest. Three days from order to pickup in the store. As for the partnership being temporary, that’s the first I’ve heard of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Last edited by Cootey; 08-12-2020 at 10:05 PM.

My store had a display model, but no placards to bring up to the register, so I ordered online. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I recently bought a Clara from the Walmart website when it was on sale for $99, and it arrived in two-days with free shipping. I also managed to snag a discounted sleep cover from my local store. Come to think of it, that may be the first time I've ever laid eyes on a Kobo product at Walmart.

As long as Walmart continues to sell Kobos on their website, that's good enough for me. (Is it good enough for Kobo though? Who can say?)
