The Dentist, the first DS Cross mystery by Tim Sullivan is currently FREE at Amazon US.

Quote:
A homeless man. Violently strangled. No leads. Except his past.

An outsider himself, DS George Cross is drawn to this case. The discovery of the dead man's connection to an old cold case then pulls Cross in further. His relentless obsession with logic, detail and patterns is what makes him so irritatingly brilliant. It doesn’t exactly make him popular with colleagues or his superiors, though. He has numerous enemies in the force wanting to see him fail.

Set in picturesque Bristol in the Southwest of England, it’s not long before the city reveals its dark underbelly, in a case of intriguing twists and turns whose result astonishes even those involved.

Wow! I wish they'd go on sale in the US store as well. I've read them all but as library copies; I wouldn't mind having my own copies to reread at leisure.

Blue Christmas is the 6th and latest in the Lord & Lady Hetheridge series by Emma Jameson. I've read the first five books in this series and enjoyed them all, so I'm happy to see this one go on sale at Kindle US for $1.99.

AT LAST

A CHRISTMAS STORY FEATURING TONY & KATE HETHERIDGE

When miserly millionaire Barnaby Galen is found dead in his dilapidated mansion, there are two corpses on the scene—the murder victim and the murder weapon. Staring into the skeleton face of a horror prop called Granny, Galen dies of fright, leaving only enemies and suspects behind. With echoes of Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, BLUE CHRISTMAS is a witty, heartfelt romantic mystery that will make fans of Emma Jameson’s bestselling series want to stand up and cheer.

Caribbean Rim is the 25th and next-to-most-recent (2018) in the Doc Ford series by Randy Wayne White. I read and enjoyed several early titles in this series in DTB days, but had no idea that there were 26 titles (!!!) now. Since it has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US, I may give this one a try and see if I still like the series.

Quote:
Murder, sunken treasure, and pirates both ancient and modern send Doc Ford on a nightmare quest in this New York Times bestseller in Randy Wayne White's thrilling series.

Marine biologist Doc Ford has been known to help his friends out of jams occasionally, but he's never faced a situation like this.

His old pal Carl Fitzpatrick has been chasing sunken wrecks most of his life, but now he's run afoul of the Florida Division of Historical Resources. Its director, Leonard Nickelby, despises amateur archaeologists, which is bad enough, but now he and his young "assistant" have disappeared--along with Fitzpatrick's impounded cache of rare Spanish coins and the list of uncharted wreck sites Fitz spent decades putting together. Some of Fitz's own explorations have been a little...dicey, so he can't go to the authorities. Doc is his only hope.

But greed makes people do terrible things: rob, cheat, even kill. With stakes this high, there's no way the thieves will go quietly--and Doc's just put himself in their crosshairs.

The Sanctuary Murders is the 24th and most recent (2019) in the Matthew Bartholomew series by Susanna Gregory. It has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. I like historical mysteries a lot, so I'm a bit biased, but I've enjoyed several of the earlier titles in this series.

Quote:
The twenty-fourth chronicle of Matthew Bartholomew.

In 1360 Edward III issues a call to arms, as sporadic attacks by the French threaten to turn into a full-blown invasion. In Cambridge, fear of the enemy is magnified by the belief that foreign agents are lurking in the area. Tension runs ever higher as rumours and ignorance fan the flames of suspicion amid preparations for war.

And then the first murder occurs - of a French scholar living in the town.

At Michaelhouse, Brother Michael is now Master, but his reach of power in the University is under threat by the election of a new Chancellor and his cohort of dubious advisors. Soon, the Colleges begin to squabble amongst themselves, as well as with the town that never wanted a University in the first place.

Amidst this atmosphere of swelling distrust, physician Matthew Bartholomew is called upon to investigate mysterious deaths in a nearby hospital. He quickly realises that there is something odd about the inmates and their keepers - something dark and deadly, which seems to be connected to the growing number of murders in the town. Pressure mounts as the University and the town clamour for answers, leading Bartholomew and Michael in a frantic quest for a solution before the powder-keg of animosity in Cambridge is ignited.

Ex-army Captain John Cunningham, a Falklands war veteran, is making the transition back into civilian life.

After investing in a property in the Lowlands, Three Oaks Farm, Cunningham starts kennels for breeding and training gun dogs. The farm is in the middle of dog-breeding country. Neighbour Joe Little raises Labradors; Laura Daiches and Olive Cory, who live next to each other, also raise spaniels, but strictly for show - and never fail to express contempt for Cunningham's working dogs.

But the dog breeding world proves to be a ruthlessly competitive business, where enemies are easily made. Especially when a rival breeder is murdered, and Cunningham is framed for the crime...

Dog in the Dark is the first instalment in the thrilling Three Oaks series.

If you didn't grab the second omnibus of titles in the Dead End Job series by Elaine Viets when it was free a while back, or if you just prefer individual titles, not in a big volume, here is the eighth title, Killer Cuts, for free at Kindle US and UK.

Kindle US/Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B079TDX3GP
Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B079TDX3GP

Quote:
From Anthony and Agatha Award-winning author Elaine Viets—the thrilling mystery series about one woman trying to make a living... while other people are making a killing.

Miguel Angel’s chic salon is where Fort Lauderdale’s high society hairdos get done. Even though Helen Hawthorne is just a gofer at the upscale salon, she has to admit the fabulous Miguel Angel is a master at the craft of coif.

But with great heads of hair come great headaches. Especially when Miguel Angel and Helen try to prepare the pregnant fiancée of Kingman "King" Oden for her nuptials. King is a bloated, loudmouth bully with a gossip blog, a TV show, and a lousy attitude. When King tries to throw his weight around the shop, Miguel Angel delivers a vicious dressing down—along with a killer threat.

Unfortunately, that’s why Miguel Angel is named the prime suspect when King's body is found drowned in a pool at his own wedding. Helen knows her boss might have a temper, but murder? That’s just not his style.

So it’s up to Helen to find out which of King's countless enemies wanted to give him a final, fatal rinse…
