Taming a Seahorse is the 13th in Robert B. Parker's Spenser series. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Some of Parker's titles go on sale a lot at decent prices, but I haven't this one much, if at all...

Spoiler:
Quote:
A high-class New York madam hires Spenser to find a missing hooker, But when Spenser tracks down April Kyle, he uncovers the murder of yet another prostitute. Now Spenser is searching through a world of sex for sale. Because somewhere between Boston and a kinky Caribbean club, someone has a taste for young women, big money, and murder. . . .

A Pilgrimage to Murder is the 17th in the Brother Athelstan series by Paul Doherty. It is $1.99 right now at Kindle US. AFAIK, this was not part of the big $0.99/$1.99 sales on Doherty titles a while back. It's not on sale, at least as of now, at Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N7R655W
Kindle US/Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N7R655W

Spoiler:
Quote:
Brother Athelstan’s Canterbury pilgrimage is disrupted by brutal murder in the latest absorbing medieval mystery.

Summer, 1381. The Great Revolt has been crushed; the king’s peace ruthlessly enforced. Brother Athelstan meanwhile is preparing for a pilgrimage to St Thomas a Becket’s shrine in Canterbury to give thanks for the wellbeing of his congregation after the violent rebellion.

But preparations are disrupted when Athelstan is summoned to a modest house in Cheapside, scene of a brutal triple murder. One of the victims was the chief clerk of the Secret Chancery of John of Gaunt. Could this be an act of revenge by the Upright Men, those rebels who survived the Great Revolt?

At the same time Athelstan is receiving menacing messages from an assassin who calls himself Azrael, the Angel of Death? Who is he – and why is he targeting a harmless friar? Could Athelstan’s pilgrimage be leading him into a deadly trap?

Shimura Trouble is the 10th in the Rei Shimura series by Sujata Massey. I've quite liked this series, which I mostly read long ago in DTB. Shimura has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK. The early titles n this series won/were nominated for a bunch of awards.

Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0050Z3BPG

Spoiler:
Quote:
During a family reunion on the island of Oahu, Japanese-American spy/antiques dealer Rei Shimura is roped into helping the Hawaiian branch of her family regain land stolen from them during World War II. But when fire sweeps the island and her young cousin is accused of arson, Rei, with the assistance of both her boyfriend Michael and her ex-lover Hugh, must discover the truth that is linked to the Shimura family history.

The League of Frightened Men is the second in Rex Stout's excellent IMO Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin series. This is one of my top ten favorite series of all time. Sadly, most of the titles in this series don't go on sale in the US very often, but now here is one at $1.99 as part of today's US Kindle Daily Deal, matched at Kobo US.

Spoiler:
Quote:
Paul Chapin’s college cronies never quite forgave themselves for instigating the tragic prank that left their friend a twisted cripple. Yet with their hazing days at Harvard far behind them, they had every reason to believe that Paul himself had forgiven them—until a class reunion ends in a fatal fall, and the poems, swearing deadly retribution, begin to arrive. Now this league of frightened men is desperate for Nero Wolfe’s help. But are Wolfe’s brilliance and Archie’s tenacity enough to outwit a killer so cunning he can plot and execute in plain sight?

The King's Beast is the sixth and most recent (2020) in Eliot Pattison's Duncan McCallum series. It has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK. I am always happy when "most-recents" go on sale at good prices!

Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08BWT4QKP
Kindle UK/Smile: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08BWT4QKP

Spoiler:
Quote:
Duncan McCallum is back and has found himself the target of the people trying to keep America under British occupation in the sixth installment of the Duncan McCallum Series.

When Benjamin Franklin asks Duncan to retrieve some astonishing fossils from the Kentucky wilderness, he is blind to the murderers that are following his every step. Duncan soon realizes that the fossils are far less of a mystery than the politics behind his mission. The Sons of Liberty are certain that the only way to keep the King from going to war with America is for Duncan to safely deliver the fossils to London.

His quest soon becomes a web of treachery and fighting as he searches for a link between the fossils and the King. Every time Duncan comes close to answers he is met with fresh deceit from those obsessed with crushing any American rebellion. With every attempt to kill him, Duncan wonders what the 'liberty' that the Sons desire really means?

In order to survive his most difficult ordeal yet, he must rescue his native companion Conawago from bedlam and seek help from freed slaves, street thieves, an aristocratic maiden, and the tribal gods of his allies.

The King’s Beast is a thrilling historical adventure from Edgar Award-winning author Eliot Pattison.

Praise for Eliot Pattison:

‘Pattison’s sixth Revolutionary mystery has a strong period feel and abundant historical detail’ - Kirkus Reviews

‘This triumphant combination of whodunit and deeply researched history should help this gifted author get the wider audience he richly deserves’ - Publishers’ Weekly

‘A remarkably immersive and compelling story, crafted with Eliot Pattison’s atmospheric style of vividly portraying historical fiction’ - The Reading Desk

Eliot Pattison is a former international lawyer and award-winning novelist. He is best known for his Inspector Shan series, of which the first novel, The Skull Mantra , won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel. He is also the author of the Hadrian Boone series. He currently lives with his wife and three children in Pennsylvania.

Newcomer (Kyoichiro Kaga Mysteries) by Keigo Higashino is $2.99 at Amazon US.

Quote:
International bestseller Keigo Higashino returns with his latest mindbender—Newcomer—as newly transferred Tokyo Police Detective Kyochiro Kaga is assigned to a baffling murder.

Detective Kyochiro Kaga of the Tokyo Police Department has just been transferred to a new precinct in the Nihonbashi area of Tokyo. Newly arrived, but with a great deal of experience, Kaga is promptly assigned to the team investigating the murder of a woman. But the more he investigates, the greater number of potential suspects emerges. It isn’t long before it seems nearly all the people living and working in the business district of Nihonbashi have a motive for murder. To prevent the murderer from eluding justice, Kaga must unravel all the secrets surrounding a complicated life. Buried somewhere in the woman’s past, in her family history, and the last few days of her life is the clue that will lead to the murderer.

From the international bestseller Keigo Higashino, author of The Devotion of Suspect X, comes one of his finest works of crime fiction yet.

Agent Running in the Field is, per SYKM, the most recent book (non-series, 2019) by John le Carré. It is £0.99 today as part of the Kindle UK Daily Deal.

Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07L8GMY7V/
Kindle UK/Smile: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07L8GMY7V/

Spoiler:
Quote:
Nat, a veteran of Britain's Secret Intelligence Service, thinks his years as an agent runner are over. But MI6 have other plans.

To tackle the growing threat from Moscow Centre, Nat is put in charge of The Haven, a defunct substation of London General with a rag-tag band of spies. His weekly badminton session with the young, introspective, Brexit-hating Ed, offers respite from the new job. But it is Ed, of all unlikely people, who will take Nat down the path of political anger that will ensnare them all.

Agent Running in the Field is a chilling portrait of our time, now heart-breaking, now darkly humorous, told to us with unflagging tension by the greatest chronicler of our age.

A Gift of Bones is the 19th in the terminally cozy, but fun IMO, Sarah Booth Delaney series by Carolyn Haines. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Christmas comes to Zinnia, Mississippi—Sarah Booth Delaney must solve a case as the holiday approaches, in this new cozy mystery from Carolyn Haines.

Christmas is just around the corner and Sarah Booth and Tinkie are preparing for a festive holiday season. After a turbulent season of solving cases, they’re ready for some holiday cheer. Sarah Booth and Sheriff Coleman Peters have finally gotten together, and this is the first holiday they’re celebrating as a couple. Sarah Booth busies herself with decking the halls and daydreaming about romantic Christmas nights with Coleman.

Then her friend Cece Dee Falcon shows up needing Sarah Booth’s help—right now. She shows Sarah Booth a box that was delivered by courier and left at Cece’s front porch. It contains a lock of hair, a photograph of a pretty young woman, very pregnant, and a note demanding ransom for the return of the teen. Cece reveals that this is her cousin’s daughter, Eve Falcon, and that she’d lost touch with this part of her family years ago. Eve and Cece had been close, until the family had a terrible falling out, and banished Cece from their lives. The countdown begins as the kidnapper pushes for payment—or else, he threatens, Eve will meet her maker. It’s up to Sarah Booth and her friends to find the girl before something terrible happens on what should be the merriest day of the year.

Carolyn Haines’s trademark humor and lovable characters are back, in a heartwarming Christmas story that will enchant and delight readers looking for a suspenseful mystery wrapped in joyful holiday.
