Kindle Oasis weird impagination

Hello! I had the same problem on Paperwhite, I hoped that with the new update on Oasis things go better but nothing has changed. Each page is badly formatted, the lines don't go all the way to the end of the page but sometimes it skips a few and there is a lot of empty space. This only happens with ebooks purchased on Amazon, with others not. It is very annoying to read in this way and it was useless to buy a bigger Kindle as the ebooks are displayed only for 3/4 of the screen. I have tried with both manual reset and factory reset, nothing changes. It happened after the penultimate update. Has anyone had the same problem? How did you solve it? Assistance cannot help me.

Try going into the Aa menu in the book and going into "Layout" to change the Alignment.

Thank you but I tried this too but nothing has changed. The problem is the lower margin.

That is caused by recent Kindle firmware preventing Widows and Orphans in books that support Enhanced Typesetting.

Thank you! Now I have a name for this. But I can't disable it without dedrm the ebook etc. Why they do that?

Download the KF8 version and remove the DRM. Then edit the CSS to add in the following code.

body {
  widows: 1;
  orphans: 1;
  margin-top: 0;
  margin-right: 0;
  margin-bottom: 0;
  margin-left: 0;
  text-align: justify;
}

Then convert to KFX and side load to your Kindle. That should solve the problem.

They consider it a feature, so it's very unlikely to change. (It makes more sense on longer pages. I think they should only turn it on for smaller font sizes, and make the boundary configurable, but honestly that is *really* unlikely ever to happen ).

It doesn't solve the problem but the ebooks that I bought from other stores don't have this "feature" when I upload them to the Kindle. It's quicker for me to buy somewhere else (usually with social drm) rather then Amazon, remove the drm, edit the css, convert and transfer it to the Kindle.

I'm not understanding something, perhaps because of the way I do things, but when I buy a book from amazon, I use the My Content and Devices web page to download it to my pc, then drag the book into Calibre. At that point the drm has been removed.

It's somewhat hidden away but on the Devices section of that web page under Amazon apps installed on devices the first button is Kindle, and in there is Hobnail's Kindle Cloud Reader which I've set as my default device. This way it doesn't try to send it over wifi to my kindle. Back on the Content section in the Actions column I click on the 3 dots button and select Download & transfer via USB. This may sound a bit convoluted but once you get it set up it's as easy as the two steps I originally gave.

And when you do it this way you never get a .kfx / Enhanced Typesetting, only mobi or azw.

You buy the book. You download the book fromt he devices and content section at Amazon using Download and Transfer with USB option.Move it to Calibre and DRM is then stripped if there is such. Then converting to KFX is very easy and once done, transfer to your Kindle.Problem solved.

Thanks! I thought that even via USB it downloaded the KFX format only.
