you really need to learn that people are allowed to have a different/opposing opinion to you without treating them as if your in a courtroom. the evidence you seem to be demanding is the non-replaceable glued in battery inside the ereader. that's why i believe it's the manufacturers decision/choice to make ereaders disposable. best wishes koboy ![]() |

You’re posting in a public forum the other members are allowed to ask for details on anything you post. You are of course free to either post those details or not. But what’s the point of initiating a topic if you’re not going to elaborate if asked. Also if you don’t want to be in a conversation simply don’t reply, no one is forcing you to either read nor reply to anything here. So your whole belief is based solely on that the battery is glued in dismissing any and all other possible reasons behind that decision. That’s fair. I disagree for the reasons I’ve stated. |

Before Apple and the iPhone, cell phones had replaceable batteries. Other companies saw this as "If we also have no user replaceable battery", we'll get more sales when people replace their phones when the battery needs to be replaced". |

No one is "forced" to upgrade a device. So what if the batteries aren't easily replaced? Plenty of users who want to do so usually manage.
We have several older devices/iPhones. They work just fine. An iPhone 6 from 2014, a 7+ from 2016, and we just gave a working 2nd gen Paperwhite to one of our grandsons. Both of the iPhones function at about 92% of battery life compared to when they were new. The 6 is stuck at iOS 12 something, but that as of yet has not been a problem. It runs all the needed apps, and works just fine. Many users do upgrade their devices every two years, but plenty of us don't. It get tiresome to hear how we are forced to upgrade, when it's just not true. Shoot, my old iPhone 4s still works, and the battery on it lasts 5-6 hours for games the kids like to play. And it's almost 9 years old. |

Something I think people need to check are the international regulations concerning shipping of rechargable batteries and the differences for removable / non removable batteries

Y'all keep saying "they're doing it to force people to buy a new reader/product every time their battery dies". Yet none of the folks who are claiming the battery is glued in to force customers into buying a new product have addressed the issue of these companies spending on new products at a more frequent rate than the average battery will die. And again, even when a customer buys a new product, there's nothing forcing them to stay in the same ecosystem. You kick them enough with crap batteries and they're going to look at the competition. |

I'm sorry I mentioned these issues. I thought all the points discussed here in the last day or two about batteries here were too obvious to discuss.
My mistake. I should have known better, in that some people will argue about about anything no matter how obvious it is. |

The best solution is to learn CSS/HTML.
