That would be exactly the minor bug mentioned in the last post.

I installed the version that you attached. I removed "Default" list (so two lists remained). Right after it, the menu became reduced but still had expected options (like plus). I removed another list (so only one list remained). As expected, options like plus disappeared from the menu. I added one reading list back. The options like plus did not appear! I added the third list - all expected option were back. So I started removing and adding lists. No luck, the plus appears when there are at least three lists. In the case of two lists, the plus was there right after the new version was installed. Quote:

Perhaps I am not understanding what you are saying.
The ReadingList menu only has two states--when there's only one list and where there's more than one. I assume the more-than-one state is what you mean by 'plus options': You seem to be suggesting that you are sometimes seeing a third state between the two when there's 2 lists? If so, can you show me some screen captures of what it looks like and, ideally, a Calibre debug log from when it happens? Calibre->Preferences dropdown->Run in debug (The debug log also tells me about your OS & calibre versions, etc.) Minor point, but sure; that's easy. Already added in my code, so it's already hidden in the screen cap above. |

Okay, now I understand this.
Your "Sony DPT-S1" list is set to "Auto populated from books on device"--which means you can't manually add or remove books from that list. So RL doesn't offer you add/remove etc options for that list, which leaves only the 'default' list, so no need for the sub menus. As for when it doesn't offer "Add/Remove default" list either, "Sony DPT-S1" was set the default list and it can't have manual add/remove. Set the other list as default that they should come back. (When you delete the default list, RL just makes the first remaining list default.) So while a bit non-intuitive maybe, I don't see anything broken here. Thank you for including the captures of the different lists' settings. I didn't think to ask for them, but that's where I needed to look. I've never used the auto-pop list settings and forgot they even exist. |

New Test Version
- Allow auto-pop lists to be default all the time and handle them better. Thinking about this some more, I realized something I should have yesterday: There is something broken, namely that you can't add/remove from that last non-auto list while the last auto list is the default. (And that the next 'default' list was chosen at random when the current default was deleted.) The attached version allows auto-pop lists to be explicitly set as default and, I believe, correctly rebuilds the menus in all cases now. Also, when the current default list is deleted, the new default list is chosen alphabetically first from the remaining manual lists, then auto-pop lists to more closely minor past behavior. Re: Errors when there are one or two reading lists
I installed the latest version version of the plugin. Now if there are 2 lists, all expected options are shown. Thanks for the fix.

"Add to ..." options in the menu are displayed even if the book is already in the list. Similar in the case of "Remove from ..." options.
"Add series to ..." options are displayed even if the book does not belong to any series. Also there is no "Remove series from ..." option. Nothing critical but can be confusing. |

Sorry, I'm not going to go into that level of detail. I'm not really interested in adding features, just keeping it running. (Personally, I'd never have put in "Add series" at all.)
So since it's apparently working, could some kind Mod move the zip from last test post to the first post for release? Version is incremented v1.6.9 (v1.6.8 was a test version). Version 1.6.9 - 11 Jul 2020 - Fixes for auto-populated default lists. Thanks. |

Question: I have two manual reading lists set to synced to my Kobo Aura HD. (Note that I'm using KoboTouchExtended drivers.)
I tried setting up the "replace device with list, new items only" setting on both of them but that kept leading to some weird results like it deleting all the books from the device, or only syncing one of the lists even if both of them had changed. It usually works if I change it to "replace device with list, add/overwrite all" but it takes a long time and it resets my reading positions on the Kobo. Is Reading List not set up to handle more than one list per device when using replace? I'll merge it all onto one big list if I have to but I was wondering if there's anything else I should try first. Thank you. ![]() Last edited by ownedbycats; 07-12-2020 at 11:22 PM. |

For the record, I use the "Add/overwrite all list items on the device" with the "Clear this list after a sync to the device". Then I have one list per device. Any new or changed books get added to the list for the device I want the book on. When the device is connected, the books are sent and the list is cleared. I don't keep a list of what is on the device. Because this method means the list would be "the books that are supposed to be on the device" plus what is in the reading list. And it doesn't harm if I add a book already on the device to the reading list. |

I combined both of the lists into one big one and it's working properly now. So I guess it was it being multiple lists causing the issues.

Does this work with Calibre Companion? I don't see any lists on mine.
