For other stuff (home screen, collection management, series), the software isn't as good as Kobo. But actually reading a book, it is good for me. |

I don't think there is a "best" really. Each person has their opinion on which format of ebooks is best and therefore on what devices are best. It's very much a beholder's choice I think. i.e. whichever works 'best' for the individual.

Since I can sideload books, I've decided to pick the reader who's software I like the most and not worry about apps. If libraries were a concern for me, living in the US I would pick a Kobo or Kindle. |

I'm not so worried about the app requirements as the simple fact that older Android versions have security holes that will not be fixed. I tried a couple of exploits on a Tolino epos and they worked so I feel rather paranoid about enabling WiFi on it.

I certainly don't do banking with a Tolino.

If you're talking about local privilege escalation then my home router has one (like most SOHO equipment) and I obviously connect it to the internet. Fun fact: a few years ago most home routers here in Europe were shipped with an "administrative port" open (telnet ![]() Code:

I mention coffee shops since one local coffee shop was still using the default credentials for their wireless setup despite having been pwned a couple of times. They now have a non-default user name and password and a bit more secure setup. Who knows, they may discover that one day. ![]() ![]() |

Agreed. I can't even come up with a favorite in my own eReaders. Seems like I like whatever one I happen to be using. But, since I don't use Windows and can't install Adobe ADE, the PocketBook and Tolino are probably the ones that will get most of my use (except when I'm reading a .mobi book).

I saw some of the videos showing Android apps on the Nook Simple Touch (way back when) and thought, "gee, that looks like... 'garbage.'" I decided if I wanted a tablet I would just get a tablet. An eReader, to me, is something different. Simpler, more direct.
