And which model (version)?

My Voyage got manually updated with Kindle Firmware 5.12.5 as soon as I got the info about the update (RSS-feed the digitalreader I think), I do not wait more than a few days, if there are issues I am usually sol, but may have an older firmware in a backup - have not needed to backlevel yet though, if that is even possible.

Batterylife has been good and still is on FW 5.12.5 (3617300042). Tonight I received the update for my Oasis 2, which includes the dark mode.

I got the Dark Mode toggle update on my Paperwhite (2018 edition), but don't yet see it on my Voyage. Any idea if that part of 5.12.5 will apply to the Voyage?

I'm afraid you won't get it on your Voyage, the shortcut is only coming to devices which already have the feature built in in the menu layers, that is Oasis 3 and PW4.

You forgot to mention the Oasis 2. For older devices it might still happen - it is technically simple to implement that feature. But I am afraid you are right. Amazon wants to sell the new models, so even if it was an easy implementation, they probably won‘t do it.

If you mean the Power Saver option, there ist no such thing in Advanced Options.

Yes, if it were just software then the Kindle (10th) gen would get the feature.

The ‘remove permanently’ feature should be available for all Kindles that get this update. I still haven’t had it show up on one of my PW4s.

Having hardware inversion and having dedicated waveform modes optimized for white on black are two different things.

Every i.MX EPDC can do the former (barring glaring kernel bugs in some early iterations), while the latter is reserved for the PW4/KOA2/KOA3.
(Other devices, starting with the PW2, since FW 5.6.x only, have *minimal* waveform optimizations, but nothing as fancy. The actual toggle is only present on devices w/ fancy support, IIRC).
