Those are settings you have to know about and you have to manually add them. Most Kobo users won't know about the hidden configuration options.

I would also consider editing the conf file, as suggested previously, a patch, although technically many probably would not.

Editing the config file is not patching. I could just be removing some cruft or changing one of the existing settings.

Most Kobo users don't know of the hidden features. Just as most Kindle users don't know about jailbreaking.
