Nope. I just bought it, and it was not the abridged edition. (Returned for refund afterwards)

You can get The Manchurian Candidate from Google Play Books in the US.

I've bought eBooks from India on Kobo because they are cheaper. I was able to use my US credit card (it has no foreign exchange fee).

Yeah, in the end I was overthinking it.

To use PayPal, just don't enter any credit card info. Buy the book and when you get to checkout, it gives you the option to use PayPal. I bet even if I did file my credit card info with Kobo it would give me PayPal as an option.

For some reason, I was thinking PayPal had to be chosen in the 'Payment and Information' tab in My Account and there's no PayPal there. Like I said, I was overthinking what turned out to be simple and painless.

Strange...
Here‘s another one to check. Check what volumes of John Creasey‘s inspector west series are on amazon compared to kobo.
The other thing I can remember is that many books appear first on kobo, many months later on amazon. I remember the smiling man in the aidan waits series.
Try the latest Michael connelly book. Is it on amazon yet? Is it on kobo?
I can promise you even if my examples frommemory are wrong i am very sure i‘m correct on this.

Both have two novels missing, but Amazon has two novels only available in the US, for some reason, not in Europe. The overall count is the same for both (41 from 43).

If you mean The Law of Innocence (coming out in November), it's listed on both.

I'm a longtime Kindle owner who doesn't use the official Kindle Store and am thinking of switching from the 2nd generation Paperwhite to a Kobo Libra H2O.

One question... do those bumps on the back get filled with dirt, dust & grime? If so, can you clean it easily? I'm guessing since it's waterproof I could just run water over it and maybe use an old toothbrush if it got dirty.

Do you sideload to your Kindle using Calibre? If so, Kobo plays much nicer than Kindle.

I don't think Kindles are bad devices. But if you aren't buying your books from Amazon, I don't see the appeal of Kindle (maybe the dictionary).

I use a Clara, not a Libra and mine is always in a sleep cover. But if the back starts to get dirty, likely an old dry toothbrush would do a good enough job, if you got to it early enough.

Nope, they don't get filled with dust and dirt because the case you'll be using with the Libra will prevent that.

I have a Forma which I believe uses the same backing as the libra. You don’t need a case to prevent dirt getting in the spaces. They’re actually fairly shallow and should dust or something get in them you’ll be able to wash it off easily.

You need a ase for making the Kobo easier to hold and for some protection.

A case can help with protection but you hardly need one to keep an ereader in working order.

And the comfort and ease holding an ereader is highly subjective, which rules out “needing” a case for this.

There are more than a few people who don’t use a case and have no issues. Something that’s been pointed out many times over.

Looks better. Protection. Easier to hold.

It's a no brainer to me.

Yes, for you. For me I’ve yet to find a case that looks better than my Forma does on its own and makes it easier to hold. Typical cases nearly double the weight and add needless bulk. I’ve had a Forma since they launched and the only break I’ve had is the USB port flaking out which is unlikely to have been prevented by a case.

Really Jon the horse is tired. Stop stating your opinion as fact.
