Every single word can be seen in the code view. But sometime I just want to edit the code in the beginning of all paragraphs so I want to disable word wrap in order to focus on the beginning of the paragraph only no matter how long the paragraphs.
Is there a key or setting that can toggle between able and disable word wrap in the code view? |

Not that I know of.
You could use the Open With feature to open the xhtml file in another editor - in my case that would Notepad++. BR |

After running 'Mend and Prettify code' paragraph breaks are shown very clearly in code view. Isn't this sufficient?

I'm assuming that they want to be able to see the beginnings of as many paragraphs as possible (without vertically scrolling).

But it's all moot since what they want isn't possible (unless they use an external editor as BR mentioned). Last edited by DiapDealer; 06-08-2020 at 11:51 AM. |

Well, you can close or minimise the "preview" and browser panes and reduce the font size to get more wrapped code paragraphs displayed. Or buy a wider monitor...

I just downloaded and installed Sigil. Opened an epub file and wanted to modify some xhtml. The very first thing I looked for was a way to turn off word wrap.

So use Sigil openWith Preferences to set a different xhtml editor that does what you want, as not seeing half of each line is not something useful to most people who actually care about the paragraph text.

Just of curiosity, what other code editors (not text editors) have an option to turn off word wrap?

I inherited a bunch of programmers 30 odd years ago who used the Multimate word processor as their editor. Took a while to wean the diehards away from it, and onto the Brief programmers editor - which survives as a Visual Studio plugin.

PyCharm is a code editor I've been using lately that has a word wrap toggle. Called "soft-wrap", it's disabled by default, which is actually what I'd expect in a code editor.
No question about it, if you want to edit the text of a book, you'd typically want word wrap enabled so that all text is visible. But not so much when editing the markup, IMO. |

I realize that everyone's mileage varies, but also keep in mind that in all the years I've been associated with Sigil, you guys are the first two people to ask how to turn off word wrap in Code View (that I can recall). |
