All done with my complete Psy/Changeling series reread. Looking forward to reading the published (final) version of Alpha Night on Tuesday.

I can't be the only one rereading the series and thinking about poor Memory every time a book was set in the SnowDancer den. For me this was particularly true during Indigo's book as well as Kiss of Snow.

I've just started reading the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, and the jury is still sort of out on it for me. I think I like it, but am still kind of waiting to see how/if it grows on me.

But, they are traditionally published and mostly pretty expensive, so I was surprised to see the seventh book in the series, Frost Burned, go on sale for $1.99, both at Kindle and Kobo US. So even though I haven't gotten this far yet, I'm going to snag it.

The Mercy Thompson series is UF at its best. The series grows and changes as the main (and side) characters build deep relationships. I think we are so used to insta-lust/love/friendship that the slow building nature of this series takes a few books to establish itself.

Mercy is my favorite type of heroine. She's not obnoxious or snarky and doesn't throw one liners around to try to demonstrate how much smarter she is than everyone else. Instead she's smart, she listens, and she actively builds relationships. She's compassionate, protective, and absolutely never gives up, no matter how overmatched she appears to be. Like the rest of the series, the underlying romance between Mercy and Adam is slow to start, but then grows and builds in the best of ways.

Totally agree Worktolive! I love the Mercy Thompson series. Mature charachters, who act maturely, throw in a mystery to solve while you're at it and you've got a winner of a book!

The later books Mercy Thompson series seem to go on sale for 1.99 periodically. I've picked up the last few that way, so if you don't want to pay the more expensive prices and don't mind waiting, you can get them cheaper.

Definitely true, and now that I check, several are even available at either of my two libraries without a hold.

I tend to think of the library mostly as a last resort for expensive newer titles. But often for newer titles, the hold periods are so long that it's almost not worth it. I've even recently had a couple of new titles I had on hold, where they went on sale and I bought them before the hold came through .

But you are absolutely right, when reading an older series, the library can be a big help! Thanks for the reminder!
