Arc Manor is the worst publisher for formatting eBooks.

FWIW,
To fix this, I am thinking on Import of a new Epub: Run the following screen: file size >= 300k and number of new lines less than 4 If true, then run mend on file before first opened, if mend on open is set. |

At least your example has long runs of untagged words. I've gotten books where every word has a span around it. Admittedly the spans only had a class, not a style.

The worst example I've seen for abuse of spans was one where there were spans around words and around letters inside the words. Most of them involved letter spacing.

It's stuff like these is one reason I really like Diap's Toolbox plugin. Those pesky spans or divs can be handled fairly easily.

When I open such an epub file, I am forced to do mend, otherwise I cannot work (Sigil doesn't respond). It may be a small thing, but I have an old computer, so such initial mend will be very useful. |

Okay,
I just pushed this to master. ImportEpub will now consider any xhtml file over 300K in size with 4 or fewer new lines as being essentially malformed. If the user has Mend on Open set in their preferences, they will be alerted to it and asked if they want to mend it. Using this approach, I had no issues loading the problem testcase.
